When it says extra wide, it means it. I might have gone for a size smaller, The shoe appears to be designed for swelling of feet. They are one of the most comfortable shoes I've had for a while. While the shoe picture looks sturdy, there is little restriction of movement and sometimes feels more like a moccasin. Normal walking remains comfortable but my feet tend to slide around the shoe when going up inclines and declines - thus the thought of a size smaller. It remains to be seen how durable the shoe is to the environment I live in. I'm in the countryside and seem to go through a pair of shoes a year before they become unwearable. However, I frequently find myself still wearing these pair instead of other pairs intended for the day.

These shoes are easy to put on and take off, but the arch is wrong for my foot. It makes my feet slide to the front and it hurts my toes. Otherwise they are great shoes. Good color, quality, and non slip which I needed for work.
