Having never owned a wood stove before, we didn’t know much about firewood or how dry it needed to be. This little unit has made it super easy to check if our firewood's moisture level is too high—a total game changer when we come across a few wet pieces. While it sometimes struggles to detect very low moisture (below 4%), that’s not an issue for most people. I also love the range of options for measuring different types of wood, like softwood or hardwood. Overall, it’s a great tool!

Product came with some nice packaging, carrying case and whatnot. Feels durable, and even came with extra pins. Focused on durability because it lives near a wood pile that is constanltly getting wood thrown around it. Easy to read the screen. Easy to use, intuitive buttons. Seems solid and saves me from the capital sin of burning wet wood.

This works great right out of the box. Turn it on, select the material you are testing and take a reading. The screen is easy to read and understand, and it’s results seem reliably consistent.

I decided to get a moisture meter for lumber I use in furniture making. Product arrived with a small paper "instructions" sheet that gave very little actual instruction. I tested 20+ pieces of hardwood and softwood lumber in my shop, all but one board read “0.00%â€, even with the pins buried fully in the wood. (I then looked on YouTube and learned the pins must be oriented in the same direction as the wood grain, which would be a useful bit of information to include in the package "instructions".)However, even when used as recommended, I could not get readings in hard maple, lacewood, or other dense hardwoods. I did finally get a maple reading by drilling holes in the wood that allowed me to fully insert the pins. To get several readings over the length of a board, I would have to drill multiple holes in the face of the board, and this of course would ruin that piece of wood for making furniture.Further research informed me that pin-type moisture meters only measure the moisture between the pins, which is of course quite shallow. Since much of my lumber is 8/4, 10/4, and 12/4 rough stock which I resaw to make the board thicknesses I want, this means a pinned meter won't tell me anything about how much moisture is deep in the wood where I'll be sawing, and I run the risk of severe warping after I resaw.To get the actual moisture content, you need to use a pinless meter. Pinless meters have been proven to be more accurate and reproducible in their readings than pinned meters, especially with thick pieces of wood. A pinned meter should be fine for folks who are looking at firewood or other uses, but for woodworkers, they are basically useless. I should have done more research before I bought this meter.I have returned this item for refund and have purchased a reliable pinless meter.

Fonctionne très bien et très utile pour connaitre le taux d'humidité des buches de bois. cela permet de choisir les plus sèches pour éviter que la cheminée ou le poêle ne dégage trop de fumée.

Ich habe das Feuchtigkeitsmessgerät aus dem Artikel ausprobiert und bin äußerst zufrieden damit. Besonders die Genauigkeit und Vielseitigkeit haben mich überzeugt. Ein praktisches Beispiel ist die Messung der Feuchtigkeit in meinem Kaminholz: Mit dem Holz-Modus konnte ich schnell und präzise bestimmen, ob das Holz bereit für den Ofen ist. Dank der dreifarbigen Anzeige wusste ich auf einen Blick, ob das Holz zu feucht war, und der akustische Alarm hat mir die Arbeit zusätzlich erleichtert.Auch die Möglichkeit, mit der REF-Funktion einen Referenzwert festzulegen, fand ich besonders hilfreich. So konnte ich problemlos die Feuchtigkeit an verschiedenen Holzstapeln vergleichen, ohne lange überlegen zu müssen. Die Bedienung ist intuitiv, und das Gerät liegt gut in der Hand.
