This was near impossible to put together. They provide a screw driver, but the holes for the screws are much too small, no matter how much force you apply - even a power drill didn't work. We had to expand the holes first with a drill, then drill in the provided screws. This is way too labor intensive for an average looking bookshelf. We use it for cookbooks, and it functions, but is not worth the effort.

I had minimum space to store books and this shelf was perfect. I was able to place three side by side and they fit perfectly and are pretty strong for the price.

Cheap materials, crossbars may split when screwing in the screws if the they are not perfectly straight. Once assembled, it works well

I like the finished product. Start with that. :-)Assembly meant grinding the screws into the ends of the dowels provided. Nearly stripped the screws trying push the material into a too-small drilled pilot. Be ready for that.(And obviously, a dowel in a frame is a difficult thing to hold while driving the screw driver.)

I had a few issues with this item. I ordered the coffee color, but got yellow. I'll give the benefit of doubt however as that could have been on me. When assembling the shelf, I noticed there were only two holes drilled into one of the sides so I had to drill holes in so I could put it together. The screws were tough to work with, some of them seemed to be stripped already and I can't tighten one screw on one side of the dowel all the way. Eventually I got it assembled and the size isn't bad but I don't have enough room for my last two books, that isn't the manufacturer's fault but it means I have to order another and I'm not sure I want to for two books. It's also not level, and rocks on a flat surface. Enough weight from the books will compensate though. It does look nice but I wasn't expecting to have to finish the piece when I got it.

Holes are too small for screws by hand. Need to use a drill to make holes bigger and drill in screws.
