UPDATE: THE COMPANY SENT ME A NEW TIMER MECHANISM AND THE UNIT IS WORKING AGAIN. The timer worked fine for three and a half years Then started to work intermittently. For the past six months I have been tapping the box or time to get it to come on. If I tap the box or the timer mechanism it comes and and runs for a while. Some days it doesn't come on at all and if it does it could be midnight or three in the afternoon. The Intermatic that I replaced with this one lasted 22 years. Also the box is metal and is rusting around the hinges. I liked the ease of setting the cycles but if the timer does not work that really isn't a selling feature.

This timer was exactly what I needed. It was kind of cheaply made and my installer had to make some adjustments but all in all I saved money and it works.

I was not able to fix and secure the bottom part where some of the wires come. The pipe was little bigger. Otherwise, everything worked out ok.

This was easy to install and even easier to set. I like that it's just an old plain mechanical timer. Looks nice mounted to my wall.

My electrician opened the door on the timer and noticed that the knockouts on the metal case had already been removed. His comment: "Looks like this thing had been sold and returned." He installed it, set the time. I turned on the circuit breaker that controlled the timer and everything worked "great."That night I set the times for the timer to turn on and off. The lights went on at the set time. I went to bed and woke up the next morning to find the lights still on, the time wheel "stuck" at the "on" time. The timer was still ticking but there wasn't any movement. I turned off the circuit breaker, freed the time wheel, set different "on" and "off" times, reset the current time, turned the circuit breaker on. The timer started ticking, the time wheel turned, stopped at the set "on" time and failed to turn on the lights. Not an electrical problem...a mechanical problem. Which is probably why it was purchased and returned.STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!!

Bought exactly 2years ago. Often missed turn-ON-time, but a few flips of the toggle switch, andit would start and run fine. It never missed turn-off-time. The tiny clock motor, and the plastic trip-switch mechanism are not robust enough to slide the switch-bar, closing both contacts.Interesting thing,,, the door-hinge-pin was missing??? I knew that giant-paper-clip I had saved would someday become handy. We are oldsters, and we value our time accordingly. We paid $40 +- for an automatic switch that functioned 728 times. You figure it out.

I cannot believe this timer passes UL/CE ratings. This unit failed within two days. The actuator lever is plastic and one of the contacts was not lined up perfectly which caused a gap which resulted in arcing and lead to the plastic melting. Bad design and build at the least, a fire hazard at most. JUNK!!! Returned for refund within a couple of days.

I live in Canada and so I have 120Volt. Needed 240Volt line in garage so put a Double pole 40Amp breaker with 8/3 Wire running into garage. According to calculations it can carry 40x240 = 9600Watts of power. But according to code i can only put a max load of 80% meaning 7680 Watts on the line. I bought 2 Garage heaters with 3 Heat settings, 3k / 4k / 5k Watt settings. I am running both heaters at 3k Watts so 6k watts total staying below the 80%. Heaters are Comfort-zone 5,000 Watt Industrial Unit Heaters with adjustable Thermostat. The thermostat setting on both heaters is on minimum and heats up my small 22x22 insulated garage very nicely keeping it at 20 Celcius when it is -20 Celcius outside. The heater is not running all the time because once it has reached the desired temperature it auto shuts off. On top of that let me tell you why this switch is awesome.1. It has gromet holes for wires to come in and be secured. Two at bottom, one on each side and one on the back plate. i like that because it is easier installation and neat installation.2. The time is very easy to set.3. The amount of hours you want your device to remain on and off is very easy controlled and you can literally control it 24 hours in a day. So you could have it running half an hour every hour. or however you may decide. For mine I have kept the heater off from 10 pm to 5 am. So when I leave for work at 8 I drive in a nice warm car when it is -20 celcius outside.4. There is a plastic cover which covers the exposed copper wire which I like it makes you feel safer.5. Also the enclosed box is pretty cool. and you can probably put a small padlock on it as well for extra safety.Great product. Highly recommended. The money you save with this product you will make in a couple of months by saving on your bill.
