How it works
The MagnetoSpeed XFR allows communication between a V3 or Sporter device and a smart phone or tablet. The devices communicate in a manner similar to modems, where signals are encoded and transmitted as audio signals.
Compatible with both iPhone and Android
MagnetoSpeed has developed apps for the iPhone and Android devices. These apps let a user retrieve shot data as well as configure their V3 or Sporter remotely. These apps are currently in their early stages and will be expanded to incorporate more features as time permits.
PLEASE NOTE: The XFR app is currently not working on Android devices. We are working toward a solution and hope to fix this issue soon. Apple/iOS users are not affected and can continue using the app.

I was debating selling my magnetospeed sporter and getting a V3 but after getting this adapter, there is no need to. I'm running this on a Samsung Galaxy S7 and it works perfectly. This allows you to run the magnetospeed app on your phone which streamlines reading the data off of the sporter. You can save your strings on your phone and you no longer have to hit the buttons on the chronograph going through the data of your shot strings. Just plug this into your phone, and the data is downloaded in seconds. The app also allows you to make changes to the chronograph much easier than it is using the chrono itself. I would highly recommend this as a add on to the sporter. Totally changes how user friendly the chrono is.

This works great and does exactly what it says it does, displays shot info on your phone via the app...that said I rarely use it. I purchased the Sporter and because of the smaller display I thought I needed the XFR to view all the data but the Sporter display has all of the same info on it and it's easy to cycle thru to get your Average, Standard Deviation, Extreme Spread and each individual shot data in your group just by pressing the button you cycle thru this data. The XFR works great if you want to use your phone to view the data though, all on one screen but you do have to unplug it from the MagSpeed and plug into your phone to view each shot series so consider if that's what you want to do!

I saw the reviews that the app doesnt work, took a chance and got the thing anyway. Everything works just fine. I guess the app is fixed now or it just works with my phone.

For all the people that can't seem to get it working I did notice I had to take my phone case off. Magnetospeed gives you an extra long 3.5 Jack but it wasn't long enough. Make sure you plug the brick part of the device into your phone and not the Magneto speed "computer". You also need to make sure that you're up to the latest version on your Magneto speed "computer" (2.1.04)and the app for that matter. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 and everything's working just fine. Although I do think this device is a little overpriced for what it does but so is everything from magnetospeed.

I really liked the idea of connecting my MagnetoSpeed to my phone but this came up short for me. I have a V3 so the data is displayed easily - I wanted to transfer the data to my phone instead of ejecting the card and using on my pc/mac.From a usability perspective - you would need to capture your series of shots, disconnect your chrono, connect to the phone and download. I hope they could come out with an upgraded V3 module that has bluetooth for connection to an app on my phone. No need to upgrade my bayonet..I tried using this on my Samsung S8+ as well as a couple different versions of iPads. Tried different volumes, made sure the module was next to the phone or iPad, tried different sequences connecting or opening apps and syncing. No luck - returning and will just eject card, bummer...

Unit seems as described and recognized my iPhone SE v1 but could not transfer data to the phone.Cannot give a full review but be aware of iPhone compatibility with the unit.
