About this item

  • High grip anti-launch cage
  • For rear hydration systems and mountain bikes
  • 2X the gripping force of conventional carbon cages.
  • Flared entry for fast insertion
  • Thick bottom shelf for larger bottles

The GORILLA CAGE helps prevent bottles ejecting from cages on bumpy roads, and saddle-mounted water bottle carriers. The cage has over 2X the gripping force of conventional carbon cages due to the 6 high shouldered carbon gripping fingers, tall retention tab at the top and thicker carbon material. The GORILLA CAGE will fit on any standard cage mounts.

After 3 cheaper bottle cages broke from the harsh impacts seen by a behind-the-saddle bottle carrier, I finally splurged on the X-Labs Gorilla cage. It’s worth it.* Grip strength is strong, so no need to try to re-shape the cage to hold tighter* Grip strength is not excessively strong, I can still muscle a bottle out of the cage while pedaling* Carbon design makes it likely immune from the kind of fatigue failures that aluminum cages have* The grip is spread out over a large area of the bottle, unlike many cages that only grab the bottle in one location. This makes the grip more secure and less likely to change based on a bump or bending* Fits very well the Zefal Magnum 33oz bottle* Made in America!

These are strong cages that will help you not launch bottles!

Nice carbon finish. Never had a water bottle pop out and I bike 300+ miles a week over train tracks, pot holes, and everything else. Kind of pricey but after losing water bottles in my other cages I suppose it worth a few extra buck to always have the bottles where you want them.

I finally got smart after 3 of my Profile Design cages broke in one season (one during a race causing me to lose the only hydration I had on my bike) and bought XLAB cages and the Carbon Wing. Nothing ever needs tightening on my setup and it's been easy to reposition after getting a new seat and seat post. It is worth the difference in price, especially if you are racing and need the dependability.

Great lightweight cages. Holds power shot bottles "okay"...I like the design, but I did lose one bottle on a rough patch of road. Had to reach back and push bottles down after hitting bumps, and check if they were still there.

I bought these cages in conjunction with the XLab Carbon Fiber Wing. These were easy to mount and are very rugged. I have no problem getting my bottles in or out of the cages and they hold my big 24oz bottles just fine without them coming loose. They are extremely light and yet durable. I was hesitant to spend the money for carbon fiber, but now glad that I did. The red is awesome as I have red accents on my bicycle (SRAM Red) and they match well.My only con for the cages are that after putting bottle in and out the inside tends to scratch or rub the resin from the finish. This makes the inside look a little more white than normal, but since I can't notice it with the bottle in the rack, I'm not going to take a star away. Maybe it's the plastic from my water bottles rubbing off. Either way, it doesn't bother me, yet I wanted to mention it for the sake of a complete review.Stay hydrated!

Love the x-lab products. Have the sidekick for my frame cage, and since I bought the carbon sonic rear, I figured I complete the set up and get the gorilla cage for the rear. Hold the bottles in place when gong over bumps and tough roads. It'll have to be a big speed bump to dislodge the bottle. For a few bucks more worth it to complete the setup.

These are great cages for riding and racing on gravel. I absolutely do not have to worry about losing bottles when riding down fast washboard gravel. I use the Zefal Magnum bottles (33 oz) and they hold like a charm. During races, when other folks are losing bottles and hydration, I can keep the hammer down and go.
