I've been putting out portable solar panels thru the summer and have run my fridge off their power for 90% of it. I'm constantly connecting and disconnecting them and get confused with the SAE plugs that often need a "polarity reverse" device (and I can't tell which way it is without a meter). With these Anderson plugs, the red is always + and black - to not have the concern. I even went this last week to plug in a small pack to charge off a panel and burned a wire or such inside it from the wrong polarity. So between the car lighter plugs (that pull out too easy) and the confusion of many SAE connections, I'm leaning a lot more to liking these as my "standard" for 12V cords. The wires will need a "crimp" tool or soldering joints, but that should be expected.

i ordered this item and when it arrived there were missing parts. The replacement shipment came exactly the same way.Ten pairs means 20 connectors and they only included 10. But 10 PAIR is 20.

I don't like to carry the bulky power bricks that comes with both my power station and portable refrigerator when I go on road trips. I saw online someone making their own cables using these type of power connectors, so I got these to make my own. First off, I like that this comes with a set including the boot. The quality of the connectors looks really good and feels solid when I connect them together.With the 10 pairs, I was able to make a short cable with a 12V cigarette lighter plug on one end and this connector on the other. I made it just long enough to connect to where I was putting my power station in the back of my car. I then made another cable with this connector from my power station to my portable refrigerator. I use these connectors to make several adapters to interface the cigarette lighter plug, the 5521 connector and make an extension.

The housings fit other Powerpole connectors of this type, but the contacts pins feel thinner, and when plugged onto other compatible connectors they don't have the grip that the 45A pins should. They unplug easily, as though the spring force is too weak between contacts. I'm going to give them a 3 star value rating as an economy choice of power connector.

These are good quality material, the plastic is quite strong and the rubbery prong housing is very rugged. I needed these to rig up some SAE to Anderson cables to use my existing solar setup with a new power station, and these fit the bill nicely, but getting the metal prongs fitted into the plastic housing after crimping them was quite the trick. You have to get the angle just right, and really push them, from the wire end or with the tip of a screwdriver, to pop them in all the way. I broke the first pair I tried to make just getting the right method figured out, but in the end I got it working. The connection these make is smooth to insert and remove, but does hold well, so they are working great and I'm pretty happy with them.
