Update: I guess I need to learn to read. The bushing sleeves are for 6, 8, and 10 mm bits. There IS no 3/8" bushing. Oops. My mistake. For all I know this thing works great. Since I have no metric drill bits or metric dowels I may never find out. Sigh...- My initial witless review...I really wanted to like this. Seems like a perfect idea for a self-centering jig. And it might be if the sleeve bushings weren't so poorly made. The 3/8 bushing is so loose around a 3/8" bit, with the drill bit fully inserted and touching the surface to be drilled, I'd estimate around 7-10 degress of freedom (+/- 4 degrees from vertical). Aside from creating a slanted hold, once the bit starts to bite it is easy for the jig to wanted with the bit "pulling" the jig along the workpiece. As well. I guess maybe there's no cheap alternative to a solid piece of kit - just going to have to pay up and get a big boy tool. Always looking for a deal. Live in hope, die in despair as my dad used to say. :-)
