My daughter was going to learn recorder in her music class so we got her her own so that she would be less likely to pick up someone elses and rock out with the germ train. She was super excited about it and absolutely loves it. She has serenaded us more than one occasion. It honestly has an okay sound from what I remember from playing recorder as a kid. So, no complaints! (the no earplugs is a joke...but..true...none the less)

This was a stocking stuffer for a young, possibly aspiring musician. The recorder is well made and comes in an attractive color. The sound is clear and impressive, making the item a surprisingly good quality purchase.

It however comes with a plastic sleeve and a fingering chart, and is sturdy enough to last until Grade Six and higher. This recorder is a nice color. Much prettier than the one I used in elementary school, which I would describe as an unpleasant shade of oatmeal. I can't say that it sounds any more pleasant than other recorders when played by an elementary schooler, but that would be asking a lot. Sounds fine from behind a door!
