This is a very comfortable mouthpiece to play in all registers. The moment I played the first note, I felt comfortable with it. From low register to high, it just felt comfortable. I didn't feel I had to push so hard above the scale or pinch the high notes. But it's extremely comfortable within the scale. The tone is full in all registers. I recommend giving it a try.

Nice! I got a new flugelhorn a few months ago. I'm glad to now have a match for the Bobby Shew trumpet mouthpieces (Lead and Jazz) I bought a few years ago.

The rim and cup on this mouthpiece is shown to be gold plated. Unfortunately this is not the case. What arrived was not gold plated and the vendor informed me that there is not a gold plated option. They indicated they used the stock photo from Yamaha and were not aware of the gold plating. All that said, I still like the mouthpiece. It plays consistently with my Yamaha 14A4A trumpet mouthpiece which makes switching between flugel and trumpet easy. Produces nice sound and affords good control.

In college, I played on a Bach 3C mouthpiece on all of my horns. Recently, I switched to the Bobby Shew Jazz Mouthpiece for my trumpet. I absolutely love how centered and easy blowing this mouthpiece was, so I purchased the same mode for my Flugelhorn. I was not disappointed. It plays with a nice centered pitch with an open feel. The partials sit really well with this mouthpiece and the sound produced is warm and dark, just like a Flugelhorn should be. I couldn't be happier with this mouthpiece.

Just know that this won't fit a Bach horn, or my Getzen for that matter. But on the right instrument you can definitely go places with it. Like a 3 rim, medium shallow funnel.

This flugelhorn mouthpiece has the most aggressive V-shaped cup I have ever seen. However, although not extremely important for a Flugelhorn, this mouthpiece is a breeze in the upper register!

Has very nice tone. I love the Bobby S trumpet mouthpiece so I thought I would give the flugel one a try. I like the tone, the only thing is the shank is longer a slightly narrower then my other Yamaha Flugelhorn mouthpieces. The result is slightly poor intonation as the mouthpiece sits deeper in the lead pipe. For reference I'm playing on a Yamaha Flugelhorn YFH-2310.
