YG-1 F8 series vanadium alloy HSS spiral flute tap for multi-purpose. High-speed steel tools are good for most general purpose applications, offering a combination of hardness and toughness for wear resistance. Titanium nitride coatings add a hard layer of gold-colored ceramic to the surface that extends tool life and permits faster cutting speeds than uncoated tools. Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut) spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging. 0.625-inches thread length. Applications: Good for steel castings and forgings/heat-treatable alloy steels, free machining stainless steel, heat and corrosion-resistant stainless steel/valve stainless steel, aluminum alloy castings. Excellent for low carbon/free machining carbon steel, medium to high carbon steel.

I used one of these taps to thread 200 blind holes 1/2 inch deep on mild steel in a cnc with rigid tapping. Worked great. Got the job done

50+ taps into acrylic and this thing still cuts through like day one. Use the appropriate 13/64th drill bit prior to tapping and some sort of oil/wax based lubrication and this Bit will last forever it seems. I haven't used it on metal yet, but suspect it will chew that with no problem also. A blast from the air compressor and its free of debris for the next one

It had no trouble drilling through the heavy stainless steel angle iron that I needed to drill and tap.
