My three year old nephew loves these pets. They are fun even without all the accessories, they move great on wood floors, decent on low carpet and rugs.

My older kids grew up when the original zhuzhu hamster pets were popular and they loved them. When I was reading a room at our daycare with an underwater theme I simply couldn't resist getting these zhuzhu fish to populate the room with theme-appropriate toys kids could enjoy. These little guys zoom around and delight children moving in unpredictable patterns. The outsides are soft and cuddly-like, but there is a hard base inside. They work best in the aquarium track that they sell separately, but can operate just fine on hard surfaces like wood, tile and laminate floor. Low pile carpeting/rugs seems okay but they don't seem to work quit as well on that. Carpet that is not extremely low pile hinders their movement.
