For whatever reason, I recently decided to hand-sew a quilt full of large concentric circles. I now realize why most quilts don’t have circles in them - it’s not easy. That said, this compass (and a lot of math I never thought I’d need) makes it possible. I actually think my high school geometry teacher would be pretty proud. The compass itself is very sturdy, heavy-duty, and easy to use. It has a sharp point, so I’ve had to put a piece of cardboard under it to keep it from digging a hole in my dining room table. When it arrived it was a bit greasy, but nothing a good wipe down with paper towels couldn’t fix. I do wish it came with a pencil - I had to hunt for longer than you’d think to find a non-mechanical pencil in my house. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase and feel quite professional using this giant compass to measure out my quilt circles.

You don't need a scribe often, but when you do they are a life saver. This scribe in particular is heavy and feels very sturdy. It's made in China, but doesn't feel cheaply made. I recommend.

Just what I was looking for, very sturdy, but I was REALLY disappointed that there were no angle measurements on the swing arm. I wanted this for building things and need that feature. I am going to look for another one and may send this back.

I've only used mine once, so far. But I've been a geometry-geek forever, and I've done my share of compass work... frequently reaching the limits of my smaller standard compasses. This baby is elegant, sturdy, and enormous. I'm very impressed with the craftsmanship, and the tool overall. Definitely would recommend.
