It was time to replace the old sump pump so went with Zoeller given all the positive reviews. I went with the M57 over the M53 because it seemed to be worth the extra few bucks for full cast-iron bottom and impeller. Glad I did as the water is pulled-in from the bottom of the unit (our older sump pump pulled the water-in from a higher level) and our pit is lined with rocks. After installing it I could hear some small stones being pulled-in and ping through the exit pipe, but it seems to have settled-in with no more issues. Once the summer hits and the pit is dry I will line the bottom with some plastic (Zoeller makes an accessory that raises it off the ground which might work as well). Keep in mind the overall footprint of the unit: It is a little larger than our old unit, and luckily *just barely* fit in our small pit. It weighs almost 30lbs and feels very substantial. This unit is 1/3hp and I'd say is about max for the distance I have to pump the water (about 10' up then another 15' horizontal across the house to exit), so be sure to get the appropriately sized pump for your application. Combined with the Cambell Quiet Sump Check Valve our whole system is knock-free and silent - hopefully should last a long time too!

Nice to find a great product, even if I had to go online to buy it. I selected a Zoeller M57 to replace my old sump pump based on numerous favorable reviews on-line, and because it is still an American company too still manufacturing in the USA! I appreciated the numerous choices Zoeller offered, even if I could not justify the expense of the all-bronze units, and the all metal construction inspires confidence.Then I tried to buy it locally. But owing to the nature of America's short-sighted consumers, Lowe's and Home Depot have been allowed to destroy all competition in my region. And worse yet they tend to sell what is profitable to them, mostly made overseas, and that are acceptable to the unwashed masses who are their customer base (who occasionally include me); so neither sells Zoeller. I went back to the Internet and was pleased to find I was able to buy this superior product on sale at Amazon (another destroyer of local stores unfortunately), with no added shipping fee and delivery in a day or two, and I paid no State Sales Tax. I ended up paying less for this Zoeller M57 than I would have paid for the best of those lesser pumps sold by Lowe's, or Home Depot - and I ended up with a superior product. I wish I could have purchased this from some local store, even if it had meant paying a bit more.The pump arrived quickly, is well constructed, has a more reliably engineered float switch than any pump I owned previously. The packing of this heavy item did have me concerned at first glance - but no damage to the pump was noted. The pump has a compact form, so it fit nicely into my sump pit. And it works like a champ - hopefully this would be the last sump pump that I would ever need to buy.

After buying my first home I was clueless on sump pumps. After learning that I have to in the basement I was even more nervous. 2 months after buying the home one of the pumps gave out. Wayne brand of course. Not the best quality out there. After hours of research I found Zoeller pumps and was relieved at the awesome reviews. I went with this model type because my pit hole is not the biggest and there's not much water usage in my home. I am completely satisfied with this product. It arrived on time, perfectly packed, and with instructions. There is a bit rust on the pump after 4 months already but that does not mean the performance is any less. Not only is the pump quiet but very dependable. As soon as the second pump goes out I will definitely replace it with this model or maybe an upgraded model just to avoid the rust. I will say it and repeat it to anybody that's clueless on sump pumps, go with Zoeller pumps! any model is great and the prices are very fair. Whether you buy them on Amazon or their direct website. They're easy to install and if you need help there's always YouTube videos. I'm just very grateful for this product because now I can sleep with the Peace of mind and a dry basement LOL Zoeller you have a customer for life!

Just installed my pump and it runs great!I installed a sump pit/drain system from scratch, my first so this is the only expI have with sump pumps.This one is a great pump so far, It's quiet, MUCH quieter then my sisters which she got from harborfreight, built in china, and is quit loud!.This Zoeller we could almost not hear it running during testing.It may get louder with time I dont know but for now it's whisper quiet.The pump is quite heavy make sure you use the attached handle to move it around.It seems solid and sturdy.My discharge line runs about 5 feet vert, then 8 feet horz to outside (installed in crawl space)During testing we figure it takes roughly 6-7 gal's of water to kick it on/off, It empties out in less then 10 seconds. which should put my particular insulation at around 40 gal/min and it does so with ease not showing any signs of struggle.I used a home made pump basin by using 18 inch (Internal Diameter) corrugated drain pipe (ADS)(road crew down the street gave me a scrap piece)I have noticed some rust spots on the unit already after only 1 week not sure if this is normal seems faster then I would have expected.Bottom Line: It pumps water with authority!

I like the 1/3hp Zoeller cast iron sump pump because it is very quiet, compact and reliable. These models are commonly installed by professional plumbers, better quality than what you will find at a big box store. The float does not take up a lot of space. I have it in a fairly small sump pit along with a 12V backup pump. It is quieter than the old pump it replaced. I bought this pump in 2015 so it has been in that pit for years now pumping regularly. At some point in the coming years I will change it out preventatively.

Super quiet pump. Pumps incredibly fast. Built very solid and simply gives the feeling that it will last many years. For example, the float switch is positive and its operation evident; its attachment to the float is water tight. The pump I replaced still did a good job but was getting old. The Zoeller pumps at about twice the speed of the old one.The only drawback I can see so far: The installation instructions require that a 3/16" hole be drilled in the discharge pipe at top-of-pump level. This is to avoid any air locks. Makes sense. However since the pump is so strong, the stream of water that comes out of that hole while the pump is in operation is strong. It ends up spraying water off the pit walls and wetting the area with little droplets. Even with a split cover in place, it raises the overall moisture level. It also adds some gurgling sounds as the water drains out, making its operation a little louder if the sump is in a sound-sensitive area.

Excellent pump. Cast iron, very solid. Tidy footprint, handle makes it easy to lift down into and back out of the sump. Incredibly efficient. Moves water many times faster than old pump that eventually went to pump heaven. Also easy to install -- drop it in, make sure nothing is in the way of the float, get an adapter and screw in a vertical piece of PVC or ABS pipe, end of story. Massive savings over having a plumber do it. Why isn't it a 5? Because I've only had it a short while, and been through one big rainstorm. In 2 years, or 5 years, if it keeps working this well, the other star will make sense. So far, however, so good.Update: 2+ years - no problems, runs quietly, works like a charm - upgraded to 5 stars.

I purchased this pump after a lot of research. It was a great price for the value I'm counting on receiving. Arrived well packed and in a timely manner. Simple to install and working well. Neither the Amazon site nor the company specs mention (that I could see) that there is a minimum sump size recommended for this pump ... I believe I discovered this in the installation directions.

The Zoeller 57, according to my research, is a great pump. Solid cast iron with no plastic parts (except for the float). I've only just installed it a few weeks ago. It was easy to install. They recommended drilling a small intake hole in the PVC pipe just at the level of the top of the pump. As another customer said, it spits like crazy but with the top on the sump pit, this isn't a problem. The pump was fairly easy to install. I bought it also because it is supposed to be relatively quiet and is right next to a basement bedroom. It hasn't gone on very often so far so hard to tell but it has to be quieter than the last pump. I was pleasantly surprised that the pump came at least 5 days earlier than promised delivery and the price was right!
