Heater works great and has made our gecko much more comfortable. It's placed on the warm side of tank under his large hide. I don't like that it isn't self regulating, as it has ne thermostat. No worries, Zoomed also has a thermostat (sold separately) that works great. After researching this exact heater I chose to place the thermostat probe between the heater and the glass bottom of the tank. Doing this doesn't make for a nice and tight seal around the heat to the glass. To aid in sealing around the edges and reflecting the most heat upward toward the tank I completely covered the heater in reflective, high temperature tape (used for forced air duct work). It sounds like a lot of extra work for something that should just stick on the bottom of the tank but I believe this is the best for my reptile. I chose this Zoomed heater because of many other reviews and YouTube videos. Overall I have purchased this again already and will continue to use.

I ordered these skeptically, the image is not of the 30-40gal. heating pads and does not match currently available product packaging at the local pet stores. Amazon should address this discrepancy as the images and description are really all we have to make a purchasing decision. I can report that the items I received appear by all measure to be genuine Zoo Med products, packaged the same as from the local pet store, at less than half the cost. Our hermit crabs in a 30gal. aquarium/turned terrarium are being kept near 80deg. in a 72-75deg. household, but they are probably on constantly or nearly. I do not expect this pair to provide sufficient heating in the winter months (Kansas City area). They are side-attached on each end starting about 1in. above the base, about 2in. below the top of the substrate. They being controlled by the well-liked BN-LINK controller with the temp sensor placed center-back about 1in. above substrate. Hope this helps someone out. Good luck.

I've used these particular heat mats for my snakes for several years and they have been reliable for my animals. I use them in conjunction with a Jump Start thermostat because if you don't, it'll likely get far too hot and could burn your animal unless it's buried under several inches of substrate the animal can't dig through, so bare that in mind. The heat mats have no problem consistently hovering around 89 degrees Fahrenheit with the use of my thermostat and do their job in keeping my snakes warm.My only real drawback is that the adhesion is hit or miss; about half of them have stuck on no problem after initial application, but other times it doesn't stick well and results in the heat mat constantly falling off whenever I lift/move my snake's tubs. This is pretty easy to remedy though if you got some duct tape. I will add that I also have some smaller/older heat mats from the same brand that just stopped working at some point with no indication as to why, but they were pretty old and none of the ones I've purchased through here have had that issue.

Have these connected to a thermastat to keep my tanks within range. They seem to work. Reptiles are keeping warm during this winter.
