I had a previous version of this salad spinner. The handle broke. I tried some of the "push button" salad spinners. They do not dry the lettuce. And with those, the mechanism goes down into the lettuce, so you either have less room for lettuce or you have to smash the lettuce down...neither of which is a positive. And that type of salad spinner doesn't, as far as I can tell, work as well to dry the lettuce. With this type of spinner, you have more control over the speed and can get it going fast enough to actually dry the lettuce..., which is the whole point... This salad spinner is great. Not expensive and it works well. Highly recommend.

TLDR: This is the best spinner we've found after searching a long time and trying many.We use a salad spinner almost every night. We've had an Oxo or two, two older Zyliss models, and Emsa Turboline most recently. We were trying to upgrade to something with a metal bowl, pull cord (not push button), and entirely dishwasher safe. I'm not sure anyone makes one that's entirely dishwasher safe. The Emsa is more expensive and far worse than this Zyliss. The Zyliss pull cord is smooth, quiet, and fast. The Emsa is loud, wobbly, and has an annoying extra part that has to sit below the strainer basket. We wanted to throw it out the window. We ended up throwing away the top and keep the metal bottom just as a high quality work bowl. I don't like the Oxo push button design - it's loud, not smooth, and the brake never worked well.Back to the Zyliss... This is even better than older models of Zyliss spinners. The pull cord and handle coming from the center is an improvement. I'm not sure the undulated strainer is an improvement, but it's fine. The pull cord motion is REALLY smooth and quiet vs. anything else I've used. The brake actually works. The metal bowl is totally worth the extra cost and wait to get the thing. I don't think the top is dishwasher safe, but nothing is perfect. Because of the undulated strainer, this ends up holding a little less than similar exterior sized spinners, but that's minor. Great spinner.

I like the pull-cord salad spinners far more than the ones with a geared crank. Yes, the pull cord eventually wears out, but that takes years. This one works well, it disassembles nicely for cleaning, and the capacity is generous. Good product.

Zyliss used to make simple pull-cord spinners. They worked well and could be easily taken apart for minor maintenance. Mine lasted for years (until I placed it too close to a gas flame). They also included a simple lid that allowed the bowl to be used for storage. The current model is heavier and arguably better made but doesn't get the job done any better. The spin mechanism doesn't seem as accessible for minor maintenance or cleaning. No storage lid.

This salad spinner has a non-breakable bowl—a feature I’m extremely enthusiastic about because my previous Zyliss salad spinner (which I loved) with a plastic bowl cracked when I accidentally dropped it on the floor. This one’s even better than my old model: it has an easy pull handle, creates ample centripetal force, and has a quick stop mechanism. It’s even relatively low profile so it fits on my fridge shelf when other bowls with a comparable volume do not. Now I harvest greens from my garden, rinse them in the basket colander that’s included with the spinner, spin them, drain the water, put the lid back on and store them in the fridge to be ready whenever I want a salad. It’s a perfect set up. Thanks, Zyliss.

I had zlyiss salad spinner that lasted somewhere around 20 years. It was great but the return spring for the lever broke. It was a great design easy to use , works great removing water from your salad and was easy to clean. So I ordered of course another lever action zyliss to my surprise when it arrived there new redesign, the basket takes up more room in the bowl which would result in producing smaller batches. The biggest flaw to their new model is the flat lid now is permanently attached to the top portion it can no longer be removed to clean the unit. This would make this literally impossible to clean, as others have stated there is mold growing in their units. This is due to their poor design.. I will be sending this back. What a shame to not improve their design, but totally ruined a redesign!

I am so glad they still sell this model of spinner. My last one lasted for years and finally broke after being dropped several times. I bought a different type of spinner, but it just doesn’t work as well. This spinner is worth the price.

I bought this product after using one at a friend’s house. It looks like a washing machine in action - getting the lettuce extra clean. Does a great job spinning out the moisture. Easy to use and compact to store away. Highly recommend.
