If you own property that has steam heat and you’re a person who likes to dial-in efficiency in your system then these are for you. They don’t fail, they work every time. The adjustable dial makes it super easy to bring up heat in your radiators that you want warmer first like bathrooms and dial back to keep others cooler like bedrooms.

The Vent-Rite 1 is similar to the Hoffman 1A adjustable air vent. I have used both, and they both work adequately. The Vent-Rite 1 has the ability to select very limited venting: The 1 setting is essentially closed, and you can select any setting through 3 before the venting is equivalent to the Hoffman setting of 1. So when you have a radiator that you want limit the venting even beyond the range of the Hoffman 1A, then the Vent Rite 1 is what you want. I have found the Vent-Rite mechanism for adjusting the vent seems to be more durable, and therefore provides a somewhat longer life that the Hoffman. The Vent-Rite venting process is less noisy that the Hoffman as well. There is less whistling, perhaps because the mechanism relies on the circular orifice for all settings. While both work fine, I think the Vent-Rite is worth a slight premium. Update 11/5/16: Still working fine, slight discoloration now about 1 year of use. I have included a photo showing the vent after 1 year of use.

I researched this valve to make sure I ordered the same type that my plumber installed a few years ago when I had a new furnace installed.The stream valve WORKS FINE, bleeding the steam then closing as promised.Stream heat is good but you have to keep up maintenance on furnace and valves.

Works great and I got my radiator venting all dialed in finally. It’s just louder than I thought it would for the $. Hisses a bit when venting and clicks when closing. Oh well it’s worth it to be able to control my steam and don’t see many better options available.

These valves should come standard on every radiator. I’ve been able to keep my very hot radiator at a lower temperature drastically.Very quiet, professional grade.

Replaced all the defective Steam radiator vents in the house. Now the steam is working again. The older “cheap†vents had all failed. The adjustable Vent-rite vents are more expensive but definitely work better than the cheaper models available at the big box stores. Also, my steam maintenance man recommended this brand.

We barely hear this vent work. It is well made, easy to adjust and I was able to guess the correct setting. I just ordered another one.

When you close value the knob goes past the indicator so it shows 8 which is fully open instead of one for closed-same thing happens when you open it, goes past 8 to 1 or 2 so you think it is more or less closed. Would have returned it but needed to install right away due to leaking valve. Premium price for poorly made product
