For anyone considering this product to paint book edges, sadly, this product will not suit the needs for painting book edges. I like that it's compact and simple to use, but unfortunately the wood edges are not evenly straight when pressure is applied to each end. It naturally makes the middle edges bow outwards, preventing adequate pressure in the middle (perhaps a c-clamp in the middle would remedy, but may be cumbersome). This product WILL work for book binding, what it is in fact advertised to do! It will work well for pressing other materials as well, I will be keeping it for those purposes, but this is not the. est option for anyone wishing to paint book edges. The quality is adequate, the wood is dry so you may want to treat it to keep it from cracking under pressure. All the hardware was included, but no instructions on how to assemble were included. I referred to the Amazon listing photos to figure it out. Shipping was little lengthy. It arrived about 10 days after I purchased it. Shipping package was good. I gave 4 stars for the fact that no assembly instructions were included.

I bought this thinking it's sanded and polished well, but really just roughly sanded. I have boards I could have made this myself but didnt have sanding or polish, and for the price I figure sure I could pay for the extra finish.Otherwise yes, it works well, not much could go wrong with something like this, it's just to clamp books

Most importantly, sand and polish the planks' edges before use to prevent splinters! Otherwise, it's a quality item completely adequate for what I plan to do with it.

When I got it, I noticed that one of the pieces of wood was already splitting slightly where the hole was. I used it for one project to see if it would work, it worked alright. Not too happy about the split in the wood already. Will probably return it.

It has worked fine each time I've used it to glue NCR pages. I don't love the bolt heads sticking out at the bottom because it can't stand up on its own. It needs a cradle or a piece of wood with indentions for the bolts to sit in. Other than that, it does the job.
