I was given a modern stove to put in my summer kitchen barn. The 240 plug was a three prong and the stove was four. The adapter worked perfectly. LOVE IT.

This adaptor helped me to be able to use my new range. I had a three-prong receptor with a four-prong plug. We tried to change the range cord, but the factory really had tightened the screws, and we were starting to strip them with no sign of us being able to remove them. So, we got this adaptor, and we are using our range now with now problem. Of course, as of this review, I have only been using it three days so time will tell if any issues arise.

A friend got a fabulous deal on an oven, knowing I needed one desperately, and gave it to me. When I got it home, the plugs weren't compatible as they were. I would rather chop off a body part than try to do anything complex electrically speaking. This device probably saved my life as I would never have gotten the courage to replace my new oven's power cord without enough vodka in me to make that procedure more dangerous and prone to failure than it would be if I did it sober, which is saying a lot, given my lack of skills with that sort of thing.

Pretty simple just plug both ends in. Easier than re-wiring.

This adapter does not work for me.I bought a new stove that came with a 4-prong plug. I have a 3-prong receptacle. I bought this adapter. It does not work properly in my case. Here is why. After the 1996 code change, appliances were sold with the case ground separated from neutral. This configuration requires a 4-conductor power cord with a separate ground wire that connects street ground (from your junction box) to the ground screw on the appliance. The NEC still allows the use of existing 3-prong receptacles, if you are replacing a range and have a 3-slot receptacle present. However, you must connect the ground screw on the appliance (the chassis ground) to the neutral terminal. This adapter does not connect the chassis ground to neutral. If I use the adapter, my stove will work, but the adapter does not make the connection properly. What I did instead was to add a grounding strap from the appliance's ground screw to the appliance's neutral connection and then use a 3-prong cable. Please look at the accompanying figure for details.
