Cabinet Locks for Babies Installation Note

Adhesive Note: The effectiveness of adhesive greatly depends on the surface of your cabinets. Please make sure the attachment surfaces are clean and free of any oils or furniture wax. The adhesive tape won't adhere well to all surfaces, especially slippery formica or old/rough layers of paint

Installation for Difference Style Cabinets and Drawers:

The Vmaisi Spring Latches is a one-hand operation cabinet lock that uses a pressure hook to connect the door to the cabinet body. Cabinets and drawers open just wide enough to fit your hand and finger inside to press the latch down to open the cabinet.

*** Easy installation for Overlay Cabinets and Drawers

*** Please choose Longer Version One-hand Operation vmaisi spring latches for Inset Cabinets and Drawers (don't purchase this standard version, no wide enough to fit your finger inside to press the latch down to open the door)

There's a switch to disable the latch. The adhesive is working so far. Love that you can turn the locking mechanism off. So you can be easily switched off when baby isn’t here.

Baby Proofing Cabinet Locks must be have items for Mom

for the kids for the best

Love your baby and keep safe! Baby Proofing Cabinet Locks must be have items for Mom. As soon as your baby starts exploring your home independently, you have to find ways to protect them from dangerous items. Here are why parents choose to invest in vmaisi cabinet locks to child-proof their home.

  • I attached mine sideways so it doesn’t affect the other drawers.

  • This safety lock is ineffective. However the child’s finger could get caught. You can choice vmaisi magnetic cabinet locks that have not small gap.

  • Yes they remove clean with alcohol. You need to be careful taking them off, to not peel off any part of your cabinet.

  • No. It gives you about a half inch of a gap before you have to push the lock open.

  • For inset drawers, the included tool aids in placing the catch deep enough to allow the drawer to close. Most of the dresser drawers required to mount the lock sideways (it still functions!). The included inset ruler tool works well to solve this.

We picked these after testing several options. They are inexpensive, relatively easy to operate, and effective. I like that you can disable them with a little switch.I had to get a little creative about positioning on some oddly made cabinets and do some trial and error to get the placement just right, but they worked everywhere we needed them.I did screw them down for extra security. We have now had them installed for about 3 years. Of about 25, only two have broken. Solid product.

Easy to install and our toddler hasn’t yet figured out how to open them, so it made baby proofing the house (kitchen/ bathrooms) much easier! Does your child like to unpack every cabinet? Save your sanity and put these on!!

Easy to assemble you just need to make sure there is enough space to stick the hook.

I like that you can lock them when toddlers are not around. We haven’t had them tested yet because our grandchild has not arrived yet. Also strong adhesive you don’t have to screw them into your cabinets.

Got these to keep our cats out of the garbage. Functionality and features are excellent (especially like the lock-disable feature). Operates smoothly and easily. The first morning after installing, pulled the drawer open. I'm not a brute, and was not in a hurry; I pulled it at a modest rate, did not yank. But the spring-loaded latch immediately snapped (see pic). I've also included a pic of another (unused) latch. On reflection, it seems these parts are made of Polystyrene, which is about the cheapest plastic that a manufacturer can use. Compare that to POM (Acetal or Delrin), a plastic ubiquitous in consumer products, notably the sliding buckles used for everything from dog collars to backpacks. POM is strong stuff, hardly expensive, and yet it seems, was deemed unnecessary for a child safety lock :- . Hey, as long as they can reach their price point... I dinged two stars, but arguably should have taken more.I'll replace it with an unused latch because it's the easiest thing to do, but this early failure is not a good sign. This was not a manufacturing defect, more like an inherent point-of-failure weakness, and on that basis I cannot recommend these.

I begged and begged my husband to agree to try these since our 3 year old and 19 month old are little explorers. He wanted the magnet ones and I knew that would be more of a hassle than a help (and I was right - he bought 4 of those and now we want to uninstall them). These spring-loaded ones work well when they are able to adhere to the drawer flush with the top of the spring device. My littles haven't been able to pull a drawer or a cabinet open on those installed. However, for some of our drawers, the lip is lower than the device. Because the catch that goes up on the ledge is so shallow, I had to install the lock part in a way that left about 1/4" of the adhesive square above the drawer panel. Because of this, the adhesive isn't strong enough and it keeps popping off when the drawers are opened. Even if I wanted to use the screws, it wouldn't matter because the top two holes wouldn't be touching the drawer. It would be perfect if the lip/catch portion were a little longer/came down more so the spring side didn't have to be as high as it does. But, other than that, these have been a life-saver. I have cut the number of "No!"s and "Don't touch that!"s and "Get out of there!"s by at least half!
