As a novice user of this type of tool, I had a setup question. I sent email to the address given in the instruction booklet, it went to tech support, and I got an answer promptly with a video showing the answer to my question. It's easy to set up and start using.The instruction manual describes blade replacement and even motor replacement, which I have not tested, but I appreciate that these directions are provided.This tool was simple to use and didn't cause any difficulties with our 120V house power when I used it in my basement. It's not quiet, but the noise is not very annoying, no particularly high frequencies.I flattened a couple cookies I had cut from down hardwood trees in my yard that I had been using, one as a base for a hot water pot, one as a cutting board. The job was accomplished easily. The planer "grabs" the workpiece and runs it through by itself, I just needed a pusher to keep my hand at a distance while getting it to where the tool engaged it. Lowered the height a little bit and ran it again, until all the gouges from the chainsaw were out and it was nice and flat. When I tried to lower it too much, the workpiece didn't go into the tool.The tool is relatively light and goes higher than some competitive thickness planers. I am excited to have this tool in my workshop, now I can do a lot more even with cheap and free wood.

This is a basic planer for the hobbyist.. If you are going to get something for more than occasional use, I would get something better.. But it does work, and works good from what I can see.. Just to be clear, the frame and stuff on this does not seem like it will take to a lot of abuse, but to be fair, it should not be used like that either.. Just do not expect too much from it, and you should be fine.. after all, it is just a basic planer with no real things to make it stand out.I got mine because I have some wood in the basement that is rough cut, and wanted something to smooth the surface down a bit to make it more usable.. TBO, if you are looking for a review that tells about longevity to a lot of, or hard use, I am not the guy to give it.. Mine will just be used for occasional use, so I will not be able to give those kinds of comments..
