Worked in my case, dont use too heavy of a drill bit on this adapter it wont hold its good but just not the strongest!

This drill chuck was a fortunate purchase for me. My old (more than 30 yr old) Craftsman drill is a reliable workhorse but the chuck was getting loose and had trouble holding larger bits when drilling into tricky materials like sheet metal. I bought this to help with the larger bits and, boy!, it really helped. I'm using it as an adapter rather than a replacement chuck because I still need to use smaller bits which this doesn't do well. It comes so you can use it as either the primary chuck or, using the included shaft, as an adapter like I chose to do. The only disadvantage is that it is HEAVY! Your arm will get tired after a lot of use but, so far, it's worth the effort to have extended the life of an old, faithful handtool.

I have a grain crusher that I use to crush malted barley for home brewing beer. I use a power drill to rotate the 3/8†shaft on the grain mill. My power drill has a keyless chuck that usually slips on the shaft because I can’t tighten it enough with my bare hands. I got this keyed chuck to provide a more secure connection from my power drill (attached with the hex shaft that comes with the tool) to my grain mill’s shaft (attached using the keyed chuck on this tool). The key allows me to grip the shaft better than I can with my drill’s keyless chuck but allows a firm grip on my power drill because of the hex shaft. It worked great just now when I milled about 24 pounds of grain for a batch of homebrew. One thing to note: the product details do state that you can only use this item for a clockwise rotation (which is all I need). The hex shaft is attached to the chuck by inserting a threaded male end on the hex shaft into the threaded female end of the chuck and tightening clockwise. So a clockwise rotation tightens the connection while a counterclockwise rotation loosens it.

I don't really do reviews - this time I'll make an exception. This is so poorly machined I wouldn't want my worst enemy to waste their hard earned dollars on it, let alone a friend. I bought it to spin a chimney brush with my battery-operated driver. Spinning this chimney brush has about the same resistance as drilling a hole through a ball of wax. It did that a few times without any failures, maybe four times since I got it in 2019? Today I made the fatal error of attempting to use it to drill a hole (1/4" hole through thin sheet metal) and it snapped when I tried to remove the bit.1) Item is balanced incorrectly, causing a pronounced wobble at any speed.2) Jaws that grip the drill bit are machined to visibly different size. Contact surface is rounded.3) It broke today when I tried to do drill things with it.

Sent back a cheaper product and purchased this one. I have a couple tools that did not work with my drill and needed the adapter. Now regardless of what I need to do my Dewalt works jusssst fine

I bought this Chuck to use larger drill bits in my drill. I guess if an item is cheap you can`t expect precision working parts. The chuck key fit loosely and flops around. The chuck locked up when I opened it by hand for a large drill bit and would not come loose.The item was not packaged good, it came shipped in a plastic bag. It may have been dropped and damaged in shipping. It had no bubble wrap around it for protection.Shippers are getting away from using a box and use cheaper plastic bags but they offer little protection!

This chuck can save the day if your drill isn't large enough. The real key is a must - I tried a model with a simple twist-to-tighten, which seems more common these days, but it was junk. This one works just fine.
