My water hydrant kept freezing during the cold days here in Colorado, so I decided to give this product a try. The heat tape felt more like a heavy duty extension cord. It was a bit difficult to wrap around a skinnier hydrant metal pipe. Needed the help of a friend to wrap. It came with a silver tape, which I used, but also decided to wrap with strong duct tape to really help secure it in place. The tape does asIt says, heated right up, and has helped so far keep my hydrant from freezing. I also wrapped the whole thing with insulation tubing for extra security. So far I am happy with this product. Good value for money here. You just may need an extra hand when wrapping it on for the first time.

I needed this for outdoor sump pump line because it kept freezing in sub-zero temps. This heat cable provides the exact solution I needed. Doesn’t get too hot and I like the length of the cord before the heating element starts. Great product!

Used this on RV park spigot during record low temps and spigot never froze. Kept the water flowing. Power cord was perfect length to plug into pedestal at park.

Packaging is cheap and has no instructions or information on the tool. Self regulating "feature" prevents it from ever turning on in and indoor setting. Complete waste and doesn't advertise itself as outdoor function only.
