Makes degassing really easy. Don't have to stir. Very good product. Would recommend

Nice product after some modifications. The pins on this unit do not allow the blades to fully collapse so that they overlap each other. This means the assembly will not fit in a standard carboy (3-6ga) without griding or filing the pins down. Not an impossible thing to do but would be much nicer if they came this way in the first place.

For the price this is a good aerator for buckets or wide-mouth fermenting bottles. It's made of solid stainless steel and it's easy to clean and sanitize thanks to having no spots that bacteria or food could get stuck in - and thus it's easy to sanitize. You can easily attach this to any standard kind of drill, and it works quickly when spun to mix up your liquids and introduce air into the must (mixture), even with solids or fruits inside the must. It works incredibly quickly, and within seconds your must will be fully mixed and you'll be mixing air into it.With that said, I can only give this 3 stars. This mixer images specifically show it being used in multiple carboys - from 1 gallon upwards. However, when you get this, you'll realize it's impossible - the tines simply do not close enough. There's a prong on each tine, that stops the aerator from closing the whole way in either direction, and it's simply far too thick to fit into any standard-mouth carboy. That's 2 stars off the rating because it's a key feature that's advertised that simply does not work at all. Now, if you have a heavy-duty file that can handle filing down stainless steel, you can fix this product. The two pines that stick out on the prongs need to be shortened enough that they'll let the tines close when the aerator is still, but will still stop it from closing upwards.Honestly it's a simple but critical manufacturing and design mistake that would have been really simple to fix in any stage of production. It would have gotten 5 stars if it wasn't for that mistake. The tines should not have been so large that they stop the aerator from closing enough to fit into a carboy. However, I can only review the product as it is, and unfortunately it comes up short in that key area due to this design.* I only review things that I personally use myself on a regular and continued basis.* I always give my full, honest, unbiased and unfiltered opinion on everything I review.* I will not hold back or avoid describing any issues I have with a product.* I write exactly what I think about things - the good, the bad, the ugly, and the questionable.* If I get multiple of something it's because I regularly use and need both of them.* And, I will update my review if something breaks, stops working as intended, or otherwise doesn't hold up as expected.

I have a few versions of wine degassers but I like this one the most. When I first got it, the fins were sticking and didn't want to move but working them manually a few times freed them up. This can fit into a 1 1/2 inch opening which allows me to use them in my 3 and 5 gallon carboys without having to remove the lid. I only have to remove the airlock and stopper and it fits right in. The fins extend when the tool spins and works well for both stirring and degassing, depending on how fast I run the drill. Being stainless steel, it is also easy to clean.

It's works great for my 5 gal carboy. Slides in, rod is straight and with my drill attached it stirs up the whole concoction. THe rod is straight so there's no wiggle while I'm stiring and cleaning it is easy.

17.5-Inch Wine Degasser Drill Attachment, SUS316 Stainless Steel Stirrer, Mixer Rod & Paddle for Home Brewing, Wine, Beer, Mead, Kombucha and MoreI do not have any wine ready for bottling or racking at the moment so all I can say is that in theory this is an elegant solution for degassing your homemade beverages. So far, I have not used a degasser, so I have no experience using these.I did try to put this into one of my empty carboys and found that the flaps would not close flat. The pins there are pins that keep the flaps from going past the rod were too long and would not allow the flaps to fall vertically. So, I got out a file and removed material from the pins until the flaps would drop smoothly. And, to make sure they do, I beveled the pins so the flaps would slide across them. Nothing would be worse than putting it into your carboy and then the flaps catch and don't fall down. Make sure to test this before you put one of these into a carboy. There is no leeway if the flaps will not slide past the pins.Make sure to clean this thoroughly. There seems to be a lot of manufacturing oil of some sort on the metal. I washed it with soap and water and I think it might need a degreaser to get it all off.So, three stars because it should not require this much work to use the product.
