The product is effective when brazing or welding pipe when you're unable to bring a workpiece to your welding table. We own a big welder's blanket, but it's impractical to unfurl for smaller jobs. I needed to cut a slit in one of the blankets for ease of use, but it wasn't a problem. The flame-resistance is much appreciated, because my teenage son is just getting started with building things with metal. He is responsible enough to work unsupervised. I generally recommend any product that allow you to work more safely, and these small fireproof blankets are no exception. They're handy in your shop, and you can keep the extra one in your truck if you have a portable welder.

I subjected one of these blankets to my mapp gas torch for approx. 30 seconds - there was no damage to the blanket, and only some discoloration in the piece of pine I had placed underneath. The blanket was cool to the touch within ten seconds of removing the flame.

There are two fire blanket of decent size included in the package. I put the blanket under fire to test. It does smell a bit, but there's no signs of burn. The blanket can resist fire quite well.

This prevents burning of whatever I am welding around. Sparks die as soon as they hit the mat. Saves me from burning up my workbench. Safety first!!
