They were easy to put together and to put on my car and to take off when season was done. Very good hold on the kayaks.I have a 2011 Honda CRV.

As others have mentioned, the rubber base is very tight to adjust, so a bit of warm soapy water or WD-40 helps dramatically. Also, throw the straps in the trash, they're garbage. The screws are long, but my rack is very tall and won't be a concern. I did end up with 16 extra nuts and a washer or two, after double checking every possible place I could've used them. Instructions are worthless, but it's not hard to figure out, just keep the two short bolts in the middle of the plate and the four longer bolts on the corners as shown. Use a proper 13mm socket to get the locknuts started, then a wrench to finish them off.The mounting bolts are about 3". I used a hacksaw to trim them down to 2". There's no reason for them ever to be that long from factory. Now, it takes just a few spins to lock the nuts into place. No need to stand there for an hour to screw or unscrew them.First drive went great! They were rock solid at highway speeds, with no loosing after an hour drive.

Great value and held very well on a 3 hour trip to the lake. No issues at all. Easy to put together and the straps held perfectly.

Had to shorten the front bolts so they wouldn't touch the car roof and use the supplied nuts. One kayak is 14" and the other 16". Able to drive over 60mph with no issues.

Decent racks just required a lot more assembly than the last pair I bought. Plan on an hour or two to get them together and on the car if you are reasonably handy.

Assembly was not as bad as I read in other reviews, but I know what they're saying. Just stare at it for few minutes and it becomes obvious how the go together.I'm confident that these will work well. They are solid and that's great, but if you don't know how to strap your kayak properly I suggest a you watch a couple videos online. After strapping, shake the kayak back and forth. It should not move at all. Your vehicle should move. Good luck.Update: I hauled 2 kayaks up and down the hwy at 55 multiple times in the past week and I'm confident that these are rock solid. Just make sure you know how to strap your boat down properly, because that's the most important part of the equation.

I shopped around a little bit looking for cradles for my son‘s canoe for my jeep grand Cherokee I have aftermarket cross rails jeep charges a fortune for this kind of stuff I wasn’t looking to Spend that kind of money these are great I only have one set up on one side cause like I said it’s just for my son’s kayak that weighs like 27 pounds. They’ve held up pretty well I don’t know how long the hold up in the long run pretty sure that formal dry rotten peel off of there and they’re not locked on so if somebody wanted to they could come up in within a couple minutes steal them right off the top of my jeep but other than that they’re not bad I would definitely recommend this purchase, despite that fact though.
