If you apply any force to the screw while tightening, the screw with blast through the ring and strip all the threading. It’s almost as though the ring is too soft of a metal.

I had a feeling these little screw clamps were not tough enough, and was not surprised when I stripped the thread on the first one without having to apply a whole lot of force. Also, with their very shiny finish, I would bet money that they are plated, not stainless.
