The Hillman Group 230018 Zinc Hex Lag Screw, 1/4" x 2-1/2", 100 Pieces
From the Manufacturer
Hex Lag Screws are used for directly fastening into wood surfaces. They are used with a lag shield, and lag screws can be used in masonry applications. The hex head is six-sided and ideal for easy driving and quick installation. The threads on lag screws are designed to embed into the wood, rather than relying on a nut to secure the connection.

They are lag bolts. They hold stuff. They are just what you need. Buy them and stop reading this review.

I've used 40 of the 100 that's in the box. It does what it's supposed to do but it's flimsy. One of the screws bent due to the weight of the 2x4. One of my 2x4 wood beams (about 8 foot long) slipped and the screw bent and the beam fell to the ground during installation.

What can you say. Its a well made lag screw. I hang lots of heavy things in my little shop to save space. These are perfect for securing shelves, racks etc to wall studs.

I am noticing quality in every product seems to be falling with these global logistics problems. I have old bolts that work in these just fine, but these new ones just shatter using a normal amount of torque in soft pre-drilled pine. The threads are not even touching the metal bracket. I drilled bracket bigger thinking this was the problem, but it's oversized now and still shatters an inch out in multiple brackets. I'm just going to use all-thread, because if I pre-drill it any bigger it will be pointless.
