Each of these shakers will hold about 11 gm of salt or 5 gm of pepper. They are about 4.2 cm high and about 2.8 cm in diameter. The holes in the caps are about right for sprinkling. When using them you have to be careful not to get too much salt, and you have to shake long and hard to get enough pepper. But that's obviously a matter of taste. Over time, I expect the stainless steel caps on the shakers I use for salt will corrode if I don't carefully wash and dry them fairly frequently (like weekly) -- that has been true for every stainless steel cap I've ever used on a salt shaker. I used finely ground black pepper. I don't think coarse-ground pepper would work.The shakers were not packed very well -- they came in bag of plastic bubble-wrap. The bag was in a fairly sturdy box, but there was no interior partitioning or padding between the shakers. If I had shaken the box vigourously I expect some of the shakers woud have broken. But all the shakers in my order arrived intact.The shakers don't look especially rugged -- the glass is not very thick. They'd probably break if dropped on a ceramic tile floor. But they're fine for the price.All the caps fit well, with the screw threads on the glass shakers and the stainless steel tops matching well. I don't think you can inadvertently "strip" the threads on the top or break the ones on the glass. Altogether a simple, serviceable, and reasonably sturdy product.

To be honest, I created Jimmy Buffett tribute Christmas ornaments last year with these shakers, adding a tiny sticker that said, "If found, please return to..." A holiday ribbon, some table salt, and they were ready to go. I'm sure that's not what the manufacturers intended it for, but it made a wonderful keepsake ornament for the Parrotheads on my Christmas list.

The product itself was exactly what I was looking for; however, how these were shipped to me was awful. Not an Amazon delivery issue but how the seller chooses to package these... just not good and a handful of these arrived broken.
