This is a long way from being my first experience with a stainless wide-band clamp. It seemed like my engine had changed it's tune; and, when I first fired her off, I thought I was seeing black smoke coming from under the hood. When I discovered the situation, the 3-inch I.D. flexible exhaust from the turbo down-pipe to the rigid exhaust under the truck had finally vibrated itself in two in a most inaccessible place for a stiff old man --- what to do? what to do?Thankfully, I had a new stick of the same flexible exhaust in the shop that made my measuring experience ever-so-much easier. This 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 band clamp fit the 3-inch ID flexible exhaust like Baby Bear's Soup.I hung upside down between the engine and firewall and managed to pull the gap together and seal the leak with the ends of the broken flex-tube snug against each other. It has been nine months since and still going strong.

Works as it should butt to butt. Seems like good quality and was able to tighten down pretty tight.

These things are great for anyone trying to get a few more months out of an exhaust system, or just to patch things up until it's convenient to take your car to the shop.I smear a little muffler cement on the pipe before tightening the clamp. This gives a little better seal, especially if there's rust on the surface of the pipe.If you want to do a classy install, a little Loctite Blue on the threads helps.

2-1/2" clamps do not seal. The band is too short and does not seal properly to the center piece. Don't buy
