I bought this to crimp two ends of 3/16 shock cord together to form a loop. Works great. Because it is spring loaded it holds the clip in place while you position the pieces. Should have gotten one of these a long time ago.

This fairly basic hog ring tool with spring-loaded "hold the ring in place" feature does the job. I misplaced my other tool and this one seems a bit more durable. I haven't counted all the rings for each size but I'd be a bit surprised if there were actually 285 of them as indicated in the listing. Nevertheless, there are plenty of each size enclosed should you need to check them out, see which size is best for your job, and then complete the work.

It's a handy little kit for most repairs requiring a hog ring such as light duty cages or fences and upholstery. But, it's a bit too light duty for chain link fence repairs. It will hold things in a pinch. But, for a long-lasting chain link repair, I think actual chain link fence gauge hog rings and a beefier set of pliers are needed.

I have used this to attach each of the ring sizes when building a chicken run. The pliers are great because they have a spring on the handle, allowing you to place the open rings into the indentations on each side and stay there. It doesn't make a round ring of the metal, but rather a squarish ring.I put the largest rings around two, 4-gauge wires and they weren't really big enough. However, I was able to use the pliers to crimp the ring wire around the wire bars and it holds just fine (although it is not a "ring" anymore).

Used these to secure bottom of chain link fence to bottom wire. (Installer lacked securing fence bottom and my dog was escaping). This set was just the right size and easy to use to accomplish the task.
