We've always wanted a rain barrel. We have a metal roof on the back porch that somehow funnels rain to one spot where it just pours onto the ground below--what a waste of rainwater! So, we took an old garbage can and put a spigot in it. Now, with this mesh filter, we can have the lid off to catch a lot more water while keeping out debris.These filters come folded up (like a sunshade for a car) which makes them easy to store. They have a flexible wire that fits along the rim of the rain barrel. This design is great -- it supports itself, keeping the netting from dipping down into the water. It seems to be intended for use without a lid on the barrel.The netting is heavy duty but light enough to let water pass through without getting backed up. The sides have a drawstring to help adjust around the side of the barrel.This has been a perfect solution for our homemade rain barrel! I am giving it 5 stars because of the quality, the ability to fold up for storage, and especially for the value. As I'm writing this review, you get two of these for $15, plus there's currently a coupon--a very good buy in my opinion.

I don't have a rain barrels. But I have a bucket I used to fill water and used it when I watered my garden. Then I realized mosquitos laid eggs in there. So after that, I stopped using the bucket because it didn't have a lid. This mesh cover works well even though my bucket is smaller than the mesh cover. Very easy to take it on and off.

I got these in order to keep leaves, petals, and other debris from accumulating on the top of our rain barrels. Since we bring our barrels inside over the winter, I’m hoping that they’ll reduce our clean up time significantly. They fit perfectly and can be tightened around the barrels. My only concern is that the wind causes them to move around too much. (I’m concerned that the wind could cause them to blow off completely, if strong enough.) I need to come up with a way to better secure them.

Fits well over the type of barrel I have. The drawstring keeps it on there even when it’s windy. There was also a good amount of snow sitting on it for a while and it was fine. I don’t think it’s going to last forever, but it’s a two pack and they’re affordable. Quick, easy, simple solution that works cheaply and well.

I have two rain barrels and wanted added protection from mosquitoes and leaves. These fit perfectly and are a fine mesh that will keep any critters out of my barrels. They are self-supporting with a wire ring on top and a bungee cord used to tighten around the barrel. In windy Oklahoma I also put a couple of binder clips on opposite sides to be double sure it won’t blow away. Good price for a simple solution.

Perfect! I have two of those food grade blue storage tanks and I needed a way to keep leaves and bugs from getting into the rainwater I get for my garden. These worked out very well and I am happy! Thank you!
