I purchased a few of these and ended up returning all but this one. The length between the outlet connection and the actual heating thermostat device are what’s key with this item. All other cords don’t offer enough length between the plug in where the unit goes into an outlet and the actual pipe where the thermostat sits! This one does it! Since you can’t add an extension cord - the extra length is important. The unit only gets warm when the pipe is cold enough! Works great!

Using this to keep my chicken waterer un-frozen since apparently Georgia is now the North Pole. My watering system is a trash can with a 1 1/2" pvc pipe sticking into the coop, with chicken nipple waterers coming out of the pvc. This heater has kept the pipe warm enough to avoid bursting and to avoid thirsty chickens. Easy to install, I used the included tape and haven't had any durability issues with it.

Good construction and gets plenty warm. I did not read the description well, I bought it based on the ad picture. My mistake but I thought the heating element was longer. I interpreted the length from the picture which includes the lead cord as well as the heating element. I should have bought the longer one.

the big box stores did not have the 9ft length with the 5ft long power cord, most power cords are 3ft.

With the incandescent light bulbs being fazed out, keeping the pipe in the well house from freezing is an issue and a bulb generates enough heat to keep the pipes from freezing, an LED bulb won't do this, so I wrapped the well house pipe with the heat tape and this will keep me from having frozen pipes when we get into the single digits.

I had no idea they even made something like this. I bought a 50 ft for my drinking water hose and the 15 ft for the sewer hose on my Rv and it doesn’t freeze now. Even better than the heated hose and a lot cheaper.

Looks like a good well built inexpensive product. I will check the energy usage over the next two months and see how they are I will update review accordingly. It looked so good i bought two more to use on exposed pipes.

Great piece of mind against freezing! I used this on a discharge line for my sump pump which pumps water a few times a day all year round. Plugged it in before using and you can feel the heat quite quickly. The last 8 feet or so of my line will freeze when the temps get bellow -15 C and it is a pain to thaw it with hot water and a garden hose. Because the line is empty most of the time I only plugged it in after it froze the first time. Worked as it should and the line began to thaw after about 15 mins. I plugged my pump back in after 30 mins and it pushed out a few chunks of ice and I was back in business.Ended up leaving it plugged in whenever the temps were consistently bellow -15 C and I havent had any issues.

I am really happy with this tape to save my pipes in the winter. Some of the features I find most notable are:- there is a 3ft power cord- there is a light indicator to show when the cord is using power- there is a waterproof end seal- has a smart on/off thermostatic controller- uses constant wattage technology- it is certified that is prevents overheating- is compatible with may uses- is rated IP67 waterproofThis is a great heating tape that is guaranteed to temperatures of -40 degrees Celsius for both metal and plastic pipes. It is not recommended to use on empty pipes so there must be water in the pipe. I really like that the tape is smart in temperature regulation shutting down at temperatures greater than 50 Fahrenheit and turning on at temperatures lower than 37 Fahrenheit. I only use when the cold temperature is very extreme, or if I forget to bleed the pipes before a cold snap. This is a saving grace and I am very happy with this. This is a really good product.
