These latches are perfect for what I needed. They look great indoors and function smoothly, they're not noisy and the painted surface seems to be a hardened enamel that I don't expect to chip. 3 of these for this price is a steal.

I needed a latch to hold down shades on my lanai for situations when the magnets that are supposed to hold it down give up. (The magnets will hold but when the breeze comes up, it is too much for the magnets to hold the screen down.)Since the shades retract the portion on the shade couldn't have a large vertical footprint. I wanted something unobtrusive and in a color that blended with the dark metal of my lanai cage. These are just what I needed. We installed the "hook" portion horizontally on the shade and the "latch" side on a cross-bar on the bottom of the shade frame. When the shade is lowered the hook can be swiveled to the side then slid it into the latch. When it is unlatched, the hook can turn such that it is inline with the mounting bracket. When the shade is retracted the hook is horizontal. There's nothing hanging down from the screen. These have worked well holding the screens down when the breeze comes up.Since the latches have a "locking" mechanism, it is important to be able to latch them with the hook fully extended. When we first tried hooking them, we had the screens fully down. In that position the hook kept catching on the locking mechanism making it difficult to slide the hook into the latch. When we lifted the screen enough to allow the hook to fully extend before sliding it into the latch, it worked like a charm. After that, we could finish lowering the screen to catch on the magnets.There are two reason I didn't give these latches a 5 star rating. One is that, while the latch may be stainless steel, it appears the screws included with the set are not. After one week, the screws are already rusting. Second is that the latches scratched more easily than I thought they should. In our experiments there were some times when it was tight trying to get the hook in or out of the latch. We wound up with some scratches on the hook and under the latch. I wasn't really forcing it so I was surprised when it scratched so easily.

Hard to put in the screws are not good for small places or closet doors other then that it's a good amount for the price

I finally found a good latch for my built-in dog crates. The new dogs learned to open them, but finding a latch that was easy for me to use and that fit in the space was difficult. They are sliding doors on a track. I was able to mount them on the ends at a 90 degree angle to the doors.
