Nice - shiny - durable Stainless steel. These shakers have a domed "plastic seal lid" it clasp on with a snap on to the shaker and is approximately .75 inches down. It shouldn't slip slip off too easily. If it tilts or if you drop the shaker there's a chance a bit of the contents can get into the plastic cap as its "domed" .Overall they are nice..

Unfortunately half of the plastic lid covers arrived cracked from being crushing during shipping. Otherwise, these have been great and have held up through the dishwasher and daily use.

The lid doesn't screw on even though it appears that it should. It just pops off and on. That would be a disaster on your food!!The stencils were not included so I emailed the company's service dept and never heard back.
