It is the gooey part of VHB (very high bond) tape and you peal the paper off. I have used it for years. It is a great tool to have in your box for the right application.

Sticks like white on rice, but also sticks to the side of the roll so very messy when you really want a clean edge.

I have used this transfer tape to make book covers and many things. It has never let me down. It's great for paper or fabric.

Bought this product after seeing some promising videos on how great VHB is for mounting purposes.Followed material application guidelines from 3M website.So this is supposed to work where you apply it to the surface you want to mount, then peel off the "paper".The first part works fine, but when you go to remove the paper... the adhesive material sticks to it more than than what you applied it to EVERY SINGLE TIME. I've tried on multiple surfaces to see if this was just user error.

Junk. Adhesive has a tendency to stay stuck to the main roll and not the piece I'm pulling off attempting to use. If I get a short strip going well, it quickly grabs and pulls itself back to the main roll leaving short sections with adhesive followed by sections without any adhesive. Seems like it is either past its shelf life or has been exposed to heat.

I can attest that this vendor’s inventory is waaay past it’s shelf life. I gave it a try despite reading the previous reviewer’s (and fellow RV builder’s) poor experience. I was hoping to get a new VHB roll. The cardboard center roll was swollen from moisture exposure, and the tape roll itself was ragged. For a couple bucks more I was able to find a fresh roll from a non-Amazon source.

I should have listened to the other reviews. This tape stuck to what I put it on a little bit, but when I remove the backing it came off of my packages and turned into a string-like glue type substance.
