Scotch 924 ATG Tape is a permanent unsupported acrylic adhesive transfer film (pressure-sensitive adhesive pre-applied to a special release liner). 3M 924 is a permanent, all-purpose transfer tape that offers excellent adhesion to most paper stocks. Can bond a wide variety of similar and dissimilar materials such as metals, glass, wood, papers, paints, and many plastics. Some application ideas include mounting promotional items and posters, core starting, and mounting picture frame mat boards and dust covers. Has good solvent resistance and excellent UV resistance. A brand of 3M. The main difference between 3M 908 and 3M 924 ATG tapes is that 908 is pH neutral (acid-neutral). Scotch 924, like all ATG tapes, is reverse wound on the roll so it is designed to be used in an ATG dispenser/gun.

I love using this tape for various photo matting and framing tasks and it works incredibly well. It always applies easily and the adhesive strength is excellent. It is worth noting that if you are looking at this for use in photo or art framing, this is NOT the acid free version so it is not intended for archival applications. I never use it in contact with a photo print anyways and also do not do archival type work so this is my preferred version and much easier to find compared to the acid free variant.

I ordered another brand, hoping to save money...but, 3M Scotch ATG tape is easier to work with and inevitably saves time, patience and money... because it is super tacky and you usually only need one coat of the Scotch 924 tape to adhere a dust cover to artwork. I'm happy that I could order this specialty framing tape through Amazon. Normally I have to order this through my framing supply company. They require a $100 per order in merchandise to deliver and I would have to order a entire box of twelve rolls from them. Knowing that Amazon carries a few framing supplies that I need has made my life a lot easier. The Scotch 924 ATG is an excellent product...and it fits my original yellow and blue ATG transfer guns.

I use this to adhere the paper dust cover to the back of a framed picture. In the past, I have used double sided tape and been embarrassed when the backing peeled off while it was hanging in a gallery. This is the good stuff. This is the real snot tape. I use it by hand without any problems. You just have to remember that if you use it by hand rather than with an applicator, the glue is on the outside. It’s still perfectly easy to lay it with the glue side down. Don’t throw out the little scotch plaid leader that comes wrapped around the outside of the tape. When you put the tape away, wrap the leader back around it to preserve the sticky side.
