I bought this leatherette for bracelets and necklaces as a test. After working with the material I am finding that they work for what I am using them for which is to say inexpensive wear-item jewelry. The kids like the leather look and I like the price and value.

I gave over a hundred kids homemade bracelets from this spool of leather!Pros:- Great quality leather- Different color choicesCons:- It is practically impossible to find the end of the chord. You just have to cut your own.

But that's my fault, I should have paid closer attention. I'm rating this on what it is and not what I expected it to be.Very stretchy plastic suede like stuff. Useless for braiding or knotting, ok for wrapping, tho it has a lot of give and you have to make it tight or it'll come undone unless you put a drop of crazy glue at the ends. Don't use it near any source of heat, it softens at not very high temps. It's not horrible for what it is, but it isn't very versatile, as it seems to be useful only to wrap things up, and it's not that great for it. I have no idea how it'll wear, but it does not take oil or wax well.Update 5.24.23: Added one star, because I found uses for it, and it's pretty good for it. The thing about not being great for wrapping stuff, yeah, no. It's great for that, just enough stretch to wrap tight, super grippy - this is good for tool handle wrapping, walking stick wrapping, wooden spoon handle wrap. This thing doesn't care about water, one way or the other. It's only known enemy is fire. You can wrap this around the handle of anything and make a loop to hang it up, and it'll hold tight with the simplest of knots. It's also good for lashing parts together, if you are into crafts or making spears. I've seen it used as lacing for a leather corset, and I've no doubt it can do it. I'd use it as shoelaces and I'm betting they'll hold up.

The price was great. We were looking for leather, but this is just like leather and it works for what we need it to. Looks good also.
