I needed a carbon filter to keep air moving in an indoor grow tent (4x4x8 ft) and to remove odors from some of the plants being grown. This filter has a pre-filter that keeps things like dried leaf bits, and pollen, and other bits of whatever from entering the carbon filter section and reducing its effectiveness. These filters are usually inline with an exhaust fan and joined to other parts with insulated tubing. The size, 6 inches, allows for quite a bit more air to be moved than using cheaper 4 inch parts; the difference in a 4" and a 6" fan is quite surprising but sometimes you just need to move more air; the more expensive investment will be justified.When you are designing your system you should know that smaller filters can only handle a flow rate of about 264 CFM (cubic feet per minute). This filter can handle a lot more. With a 6" inline fan, it is quite amazing the airflow that is possible; you may want to include a variable speed control to fine tune the flow through the filter.It is common to hang filters from the top of the grow tent; hangers and straps are not included for this. Oh, the ability for this unit to remove odors is fantastic, you'll be pleased with the odor scrubbing ability.

I'm using this 4" carbon filter as an intake for my plant tent with a 4" inline duct fan for clean, active air intake. I hooked up a PM sensor and it seems to be working just as well as my "name brand" filter. There are no weird smells coming into my tent and I know my plants are going to be much happier with less dust coming in. (Of course I also have an active exhaust as well, but that one is 6")

I have always hated the smell of tobacco and I also don't like always having to go outside to smoke especially during the winter. I have a 6" exhaust fan in a small space in the basement where I go to smoke. This fit right onto the fan. It works great at removing the smell of the smoke. The only thing I don't like is cigarettes really clog these up so I have to replace mine every 6 months. Other than that it works great and I would definitely buy again, no questions asked...

This is my first time replacing my filter, last one from another brand was great.This one was an actual joke. Looks like it was made in a malaysian prison camp because of how poorly put together it is, tons of powdered carbon fell out on my feet when i turned it upside down, then the fan was occasionally spitting out powdered carbon for the first couple minutes once it was installed.Does and doesnt eliminate smell. You can still get a gokd whiff of whats in the tent. Not enough to make the room reek, but enough to make me have very little faith in this thing. Probably will die very quicklyI dont know what other brands someone should try, but dont try this one. Absolute garbage, i bought this one because it was the only low-cost filter that i could find without a horrible review, but nah. This one is just as bad if not worse than all the others. Dont buy

Fit perfectly into my existing setup, even the pre-filter sleeve fit. Quiet, good flow, does its job. I've seen some people complaining about price; it was under $30 when I picked it up, and is currently in that range. If you paid more than a name-brand for this, I'm sorry, but at this point, it's pretty solid.

Honestly this seems to be a great filter. Seems to work and feels well made. With that said I prefer the iPower filters available here on Amazon. At the time of this review this filter is priced at 69.99 if you look you will se you can get a 6 inch from iPower for 45.99 here on Amazon. Which is a massive percentage difference. I just want to like this filter but 25 dollars is alot of money especially when looking at this from a percentage aspect. It's just way too expensive. Good quality though.
