I know the size of the mallets was in the description but they are bigger than I expected, and that's fine. They're really nice. The foam beaters are attached to the sticks very securely. They're not loose nor do they spin easily. The sticks are pretty nice and have a little contour with kind of a knob on the end, so it's nicer than just a dowel rod. The foam has rounded corners and it's pretty stiff actually and these could probably be used on a regular drum set, but they have a little bit of a softer attack, which is kind of nice on the cymbals, there's not a harsh attack like a stick. The foam was not quite rigid enough to get a not on my ice bell however. They're too large to use on my glockenspiel and didn't give a good sound, but may work to get a soft tone on a wooden xylophone. I don't really play much but I make quite a few recordings so I like to have a variety of percussion instruments and these are certainly a great addition to expand the variety of sounds that I can get. I haven't had anything like these before, just rubber or wood mallets. There are 2 colors, but they feel and sound about the same. I thought maybe they would have different densities and tones, but I don't think there is any difference. I was pretty impressed, thank you very much for offering the great product.

I was anticipating something closer to a soft felt, but the foam on these mallets is a bit stiffer, and their attack is noticeably sharper than other mallets I have. They're also much larger, and the size difference didn't really sink in until I had them in front of me. The sticks feel lighter and have a dull smack, not much of a resonant click, in case that matters to anyone in a mallet. The important thing to me is that these sit somewhere between a typical felt mallet and a wooden drumstick, in terms of the sound they produce. It's hard to say if they coax more low end out of my toms, just going by ear, but with the attack still present, that grabs more attention than any low boomy sound. Cymbal swells do work, but they're not quite as smooth--and given the size of these mallets, doing a swell on anything less than my 21" Bash Ride might seem like overkill.
