We are using these turnbuckles for our new sun shade in Arizona. We tried to use smaller hardware on our last shade and they failed with the first wind storm that came through. A couple of weeks after installing this set, we had a storm with 60+mph gusts and these held up just fine. I'm not an expert on this, but it seems to be exactly what I want - no hook (possibly coming undone) or enclosed circle (not the right size or attaching to something that needs an open end instead of a closed end), but adjustable where you can pull the pin and attach it and then reinsert the pin to close it. I also like that it appears very strong. And compared to what I found in the local hardware, this is much better quality, more precise. It should work well for most applications where other brands may not due to the ends.

Turnbuckles are great, however the bolts & nuts with cotter pins on the ends are not galvanized and have rusted!If you have an outdoor application replace the bolts / nuts with stainless! The rest of the turnbuckle galvanizing has not rusted and are holding up well!

Strong turnbuckles which were difficult to find locally. Fit 3/8†chain and offered great strength and durability. Wouldn’t hesitate to purchase again.

2x the size and easily 4x the shank/thread of a similar jaw:jaw turnbuckle I ordered and returned with a stated working load of 1,600lbs (there was no way, it was so flimsy and the thread was loose). Although the thread on this is not snug, I am sure it will lock up in time once under tension and weather. This one has a rated working load of 2,200lbs and I'm confident that includes a pretty wide margin of safety. Who knows for sure until they break but I am way more comfortable with this hefty product that the other ones I ordered. Recommend!
