LIKES: larger wells than standard 4x3 tray, lights above are programmable, the lights are part of a venting system too so you can completely close the top or slide the lights over to let some heat out or air in, tray bottoms allow for water to remain in the system creating a greenhouse humidity environment, all four containers are plugged into only one outlet to save space and not require an extra power strip. DISLIKES: none to report. However, I am not sure yet how functional the lights are going to be in the long term. They are definitely going to help the seeds to germinate and start growing upwards, but my past experience tells me that the seedlings on the outside edges are probably going to start bending towards the lights in the center. Not a real concern though because the plants can't stay under the cover for long after poking up from the soil anyway so I just see it as an extra bonus. (I actually say it is a bonus since most grow chambers like these don't have any light and require you to either rely completely on the sun or you have to put them under separate grow lights anyway). HOW USING: These are being used to start my garden and grow some indoor catnip for my cats. I am also going to use these to propagate African violet clippings once I have my garden up and running since there is enough head room for the smaller variety leaves. RECOMMENDATION: Absolutely yes! This kit is such a cool variation of the seed starter theme. The lights, the larger chambers and the fact that you can use one cord to set them all up is just wonderful.

These are a fine idea, and executed with enough decency that any frustrations fall into the "minor complaint" category. I read others' reviews prior to using, and would agree that these are -not- in the "plug it in and forget it" category as some counter-top seed-starters are. In short, these are better for users experienced in seed starting.Yep, you need to be attentive with assembly, and regarding the vent. I find the size smaller, but good enough for starting most seeds. Drainage can be altered by users.All of these things sound like issues, but really they're not, for me: these are nice, a pleasant upgrade from "just a tray." Reasonably priced, too. I echo the recommendation for a warming mat for those in temperate climates.

Pretty nice kit. Everything you need to start your seedlings except the dirt and seeds. Size of the trays is ample for starting seeds. I like the way the lights snap into the top trays, works much better than having to hang a bulb and crowd your seedlings under it as I was doing prior. I’m in Texas, so the trays stay warm enough, I didn’t find that I needed supplemental heating. Trays are much sturdier than the disposable type that you get when you buy seedlings at your local store. I’m pretty sure I’m going to be able to rinse it off, store it and use again for at least a few years.

THis kit is very well designed. The (4) LED arrays snap into the upper clear trays, and the LED can manually open or close the clear top for ventilation, or the cover slide can also be closed. The (4) LED arrays put out a nice broad spectrum and pull 10.8 watts of power, just right for seedlings Also included is a AC to DC USB adapter. Picture 4 & 5 show the upper cover's open and close aeration mechanism. I've never needed a heat mat to sprout seeds. as I live in Florida and my home is 72* to 74* summer or winter. Those in colder climates up north, may want to buy a heat mat, but one can just run the lights 24/7 pre sprout to keep the seeds in the a non stressful temperature range, conducive to sprouting.I always have oat, wheat and barley (plus catnip) available for my three rescue cats on their countertop garden. This fine kit allows me to always have fresh greens. All three have autoimmune issues, the local cat shelter asked me to adopt my third cat recently knowing I had a big house and a screened 77' lanai on a small pond, where the cats can see lots of wildlife.One of these cats had a massive infection, as a result, lost his rear leg before I gave him a home.. All three are ex ferals, but they all had human exposure, as all are super chill. Their FIV status means they cannot be outdoor cats. So extra nutrition for them keeps their health in check.PS, Last pic is just to show my cats greens, as you can see they munch on it like crazy, especially the catnip that's hugging the wall.

This 4 pack starter trays with lights works pretty good! It is your standard starter trays with a lid and grow lights. This creates a greenhouse effect to assist with growing from seeds. I like that I can bottom water as well bc gnats are the worse and bottom watering helps keep them at bay. The plastic are a little thin and I will have to see how easy the plants will pop out when ready but otherwise, everything has been working out so far. The lights work great but my seedlings are still a little leggy so it's could be brighter but these are pretty standard. Would still recommend!

I was able to finally get some seeds started in here this weekend and it could not be made any better than it is. The trays are sturdy but light weight and will be able to be used again and again. You can adjust the little lights so that they allow for air flow into the lid or block it completely depending on the humidity level you want. Set up is a breeze. You just set the lid on, clip the light on the top, hook it up to the cord and plug it in the wall. I love that this comes with an actually wall outlet plug instead of just a USB which seems like everything comes with these days. It comes with everything that you could need, including tags to label your seeds, a tiny shovel to fill your pots and a pointed hole "poker" to make it easy to set your seeds. You can adjust the hours of brightness with a single push of a button. This is a great set for anyone wishing to start their own seeds for spring!
