These handles are junk. To start with the surface finish feels like 36 grit sandpaper. It's a terrible varnish finish that's extremely rough which i could overlook if, and i'm not sure i've mentioned this yet, the handles weren't junk. The handles also have an odd shape, with a straight cut end - no pesky fillets or easing of edges for you to worry about. And they're full of knots and cracks. I've seen better firewood. I was tapping a small ball peen hammer head onto the first handle i tried to use and it was about 2/3rds of the way in and the tip of the handle broke off inside the hammer head. This isn't my first hammer handle replacement, so there must have been a crack or knot that i'd missed, even though this was the least crappy handle of all four of them. Did i mention these handles are junk? Go cut a branch off any tree you have access to, peel the bark off, whittle the tip down, and i'll wager it'll be a better handle than the wooden version of ch1ne5ium.Heed my warning and Do not buy them.P.S. these handles are JUNK.
