These are bigger than I'd imagined, but they work really well. You just have to make sure you have a pretty large pot (would look a little strange in a 4" pot, I think). The waterers are exactly as pictured, offering a whimsical look to my larger potted plants. So far they seem to work just like they are supposed to -- I've only had them for about a week, so I will update my review if things change over time, but my plants look healthy and have not drooped as they sometimes do right before I water them. I live in a very dry area, so I don't know that I would feel comfortable using these as my only watering option for an extended vacation (I'm not sure the water would last much longer than a week here it is so dry), but I don't travel a lot, so I don't see that being a problem. I mainly wanted to get something to help keep me from over watering my plants (which is one of the bigger challenges when you live in a really arid climate). And so far it's helping with that!

This terracotta watering system is both cute and effective. I have had other similar watering devices made of glass which I stopped using because I felt that they could break and be dangerous on my fingers. The terracotta clay seems to be a porous material that allows slow water into the soil depending on its degree of humidity. I find the colorful and cute faces adorable, and the material is sturdy enough so the spike can be handled and placed in the plant soil easily and safely. I have tested them for two weeks and they really work keeping my plants well hydrated while I am away visiting my grandchildren. One feature that I liked a lot was that you can place a water bottle (or even a wine bottle) on the opening, and this allows longer periods of time to pass before the water runs out. This will be especially helpful for a long trip when my plants are unattended for long periods. This is a very good product for inner city, apartment plant lovers

I'm not quite sure what I expected. I've posted a pic with a banana for scale. These are a little larger than I thought I guess. Most of my plants are in pots that are from 4 to 10 inches. The stakes of these are pretty wide and too wide for most of my plant pots which have roots and stems that might be damaged by pushing these into them... And the face becomes a bit of distraction sticking out of the pot. Luckily I can turn them around so they blend in a little better.

I know most watering spikes are those pretty glass globes but that is not what I wanted. These are really cute, the different colors and expression on their faces just make me smile. We soaked them in water for an hour or so to get them damp and then filled them up and inserted into plants. Day three and they still have water in the cup, I was worried it would just drain out immediately so wouldn't keep watering.Only sad part was my puppy saw me put my favorite blue on into a pot and thought it was a toy to play with, note to self they are breakable. That was the dog's fault though, not the device.

I had no idea that terracotta plant watering stakes were a thing until I saw these. They are absolutely adorable! They're also very practical as well. Now that I've given them a try, all of my questions were quickly answered. It's like it intelligently knows when and how much water to release which is fantastic. I have a business travel so these were really make my life a lot easier and make my plants a lot happier than I can by myself. They're a nice medium size and I think it's pretty cool that you can even use an upside down water bottle if you needed to for a longer duration of time. The quality is unquestionably fantastic and my opinion is these are a great value. I would without a doubt order these again if I wanted or needed more. Definite recommendation from me!

I. plant in terracotta whenever I can. I like it because it transports air and water for healthier plants. These terracotta stakes started turning up around a year ago and I have them in all of my larger potted plants (trees, roses, raspberry and blueberry bushes). They work really well, and are especially good if you are busy or sometimes forget to water. These hold enough water for a few days (depending on how dry your environment, or thirsty the plant). They are well made and more attractive than most. Easy to use, and dispense water in just the right amount.

Cute and perfectly fits a standard wine bottle! I put these little guys in my larger planters with a wine bottle and so far they’ve held up under the weight of the glass leaning. They’re unglazed terra cotta, which means that they’ll soak up the water and distribute it nicely.

I have a bunch of different self-watering options. I like this style a lot. It's easy to get the water into the big open head without splashing all over the place and it holds enough water and releases it slowly. I also like the design a lot. It suits my quirkiness. They're both useful and decorative.
