First of all, if / when I get the chance to upload a comparison photo between the Darice folders I own next to one of those folders, I will. Also, I hate leaving negative reviews! I always feel terrible about it.I have a Sizzix Texture Boutique (one of the rounded, portable ones for card making, that I haven't seen on Amazon for a couple years). I have bought brand name folders like the one mentioned above, along with the off-brand folders from China & other places. I have never had a problem getting any of them to go through my machine. In fact, I almost always end up using the shim that came with it, & sometimes another piece of cardstock just to get the pressure I want.But these folders are a different story. Or, the one I tried, at least. I was so excited to get folders at a reasonable price that had really pretty patterns like these do, but I quickly found that the two plates with the folder & the thin piece of material to be embossed (think an extremely thin piece of cardstock), basically had to be forced through the machine. I actually thought I was going to break my machine.Typically, with any other type of folder I have used, I run it through 2-3 times, again with the shim almost always present because it just doesn't apply enough pressure by itself to get the pattern I want. I thought, with as difficult as it was to get this folder through, all the while thinking I was going to break my machine, that I would only need to run the folder through once. And the texture would probably be amazing. Imagine my disappointment when, after all that effort, I saw my little piece material, pretty much the same thickness of a few pieces of copy paper, with barely an imprint on it.I didn't bother opening the other three folders from their clear packaging, because I figured they'd all be the same in quality. I then got curious, wondering if it was my machine or my technique or something else that I did wrong, so I took the same type of material, got one of my Darice folders, & ran it through with the shim, & low & behold the texture was perfect, as usual.I then compared the thickness of the Darice folder with the thickness of the folder from this set I had used, & these folders are much thicker. That might work for people who have a bunch of different plates, can adjust their machines, etc.. but for a simple embossing machine like mine, this was basically impossible to use. And even when I got it through that one time, after being concerned it would break my machine, I was shocked that there was such a faint pattern. I doubt I'll get my money back, but I did keep the other three folders in their packaging, like I said earlier, just in case. Because I can't use any of these folders if they're all this thick. So disappointing. I'll pay extra for Darice folders.

Although I liked the patterns, the one embossing folder wouldn’t emboss deep enough on the one end. So I ordered a replacement. That one was defective too. I didn’t think “third times a charm†was worth the hassle so I really only have 3 working embossing folders for the money.
