I use these shaft clamps as1 inch barbel clamps which more effective than barbell spring clamps. I have one installed at the base of the plate sleeve using blue thread lock, and the other shaft clamp at the open side of the sleeve, effectively securing the plates in place.The holes in the 1 inch weight plates aren't exactly within spec, so there quite a slack for the plates easily move and wiggle on the 1 inch barbell sleeve, and the spring clamps aren't strong enough to hold it in place for deadlifts. The shaft clamps takes care of this problem.

I purchased the 6mm version of these collars. The quality is excellent. I went back to buy 2 more sets. I only wish they made 5mm and 1/4" versions.
