I usually buy the brand-name version of these rooting sponges, but I decided to give this option a try. I’m glad I did. One key difference is that these do not come pre-soaked, which I actually prefer because it extends their shelf life. Unlike some other brands that tend to be mushy, these are made of a denser, spongy material that holds together much better. The biggest advantage I’ve noticed is how well they secure plant cuttings. With other plugs, I’ve had issues where they crumble apart or don’t grip the stem tightly enough. These, on the other hand, provide excellent support, likely due to their denser composition. They also promoted excellent root growth! Before using them, I soaked them in a light nutrient mixture with pH adjustments, and they performed exceptionally well for rooting cannabis clones. The cuttings developed strong, healthy roots, and I didn’t experience the tearing or disintegration that I’ve encountered with other brands.Another great benefit is that they store much better when dry, making them more convenient for long-term use. Given their performance, durability, and storage advantages, I’ll be switching to these from now on. Highly recommended!

I only germinate once or twice a year. The rapid rooters work very well, but their moist and in between grows they get moldy. These plugs are stored dry and when hydrated are very similar to rapid. The price at this time was also less. One thing else, these have a cone shaped bottom that sits well in a starter tray for water absorption.

These things WORK! Seedlings have a high success rate. I have mine on a heat mat and what should take 7 days took 4. My only question was whether you just drop in the whole or if you pull some of the material over the seed. I chose to pull a bit over the seed with a tool/or my nail. It worked great.

I ordered the 100 pc count. And only received 95. They aren't a consistent shape so some fit well in my seed trays and others are a little too big. I'm going to return since I needed 100 for my seed trays. If you don't mind a few missing then this might be a good find they seemed like they were going to work for my needs.

Substituted for Parks' replacement sponges. Not exact but seem to be close enough for now.

I do not understand these sponges. They are so small and don’t fit in my planter trays, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a tray this small. I’m not sure if I’m using them wrong, but I took this photo after I had soaked the sponges for over 5 minutes, they barely expanded. I was thinking they would be more like a condensed peat and would expand and loosen up a bit more once wet, but if you tug at it, it just breaks apart. I question what this is made of and if it is healthy, as well as what I’m suppose to do with the rest of the box. I planted some seeds by putting dirt in my trays and inserting the sponges into it and will see what the outcome is, but I’m disappointed at the size and texture so far.
