This panel is ready to use out of the box. It's been great for helping give the many people who lost their housing in the recent disasters have a charging option for many different things. It does give a pretty good charge especially in direct sunlight.

After drilling the hole bigger to allow the plug to enter the back of camera, because the hole was too small to allow the solar panel cord/plug to enter far enough to make the connection. After the plug connection was connected the solar panel kept the batteries charged at 100% during the day but, at night the camera has to be unplugged from solar panel. If you don't, unplug the solar panel, the batteries will be completely dead by sunrise and the solar panel couldn't bring the dead batteries to even take a charge. The batteries must be taken out and charged to 100%So, there isn't any point trying to use a solar panel at all.Just using the batteries alone, the batteries will take 5 weeks to run down to 30% ....Long story short, only have to charge batteries once every 5 weeks when only using the battery power. If when using a solar panel you must pull the batteries out every day to recharge batteries from completely dead batteries. So stupid

I use this with a ring stick up cam, and it works great when there's a lot of sun. Unfortunately sometimes I just don't have enough sunlight and hours of sunlight during the winter to fully keep up with my camera if I turn up the settings to use maximum power (most frequent snapshots and motion detection). This really isn't the fault of the solar panel, I tried a different one with the same result! I just have a place that doesn't get great sunlight because of trees around the area, and it has been quite cloudy and short days during the winter. For now this works fine, I may just have to plug in my battery once or twice during the winter to top off what the solar panel can't keep up with!I took off one star because I wish the cable were a few feet longer...then I could get to a place with better sunlight!

This is just what I needed. I was using batteries with no solar charger and had to change them out like every 2-3 months. I saw this solar charger and now my batteries stay at 100% and are constantly being charged by the sun. I added pictures to show both batteries are charging, and they are both at 100%. I’ve had this for almost one month and they have stayed at 100% since.I am giving this solar batter charger a 5***** star rating and would give it a 10 if I could.

After installing this solar kit on my gutter, I placed brand new rechargeable batteries fully charged into my ring camera and waited a few weeks to test the solar panel before leaving this review. It’s important to note, I've also installed this in the darkest months of Washington.Right now, my batteries are barely holding a charge and we’ve had a few days where the light levels are better than they have been. I’m going to try a second set of brand new batteries to see if this improves the situation but for now, I am not convinced this solar panel is going to be a long term solution. If I do get better performance and find the batteries were the issue, I will update this review to reflect the change.Even so, the installation only took a few minutes and the build quality of the unit is nice. It looks pretty good mounted. The length of the cord is ample for several types of installations if you need to run it a ways from the camera. I also feel it will perform if you live in a sunnier location than rainy Washington in December. If my issue doesn’t resolve I will likely use it on my camper instead for the warmer months.

Picked this up for one of our outdoor ring cameras as we didnt feel that two batteries were necessarily worth it based on where that camera is located. Easy to install, long enough cord and seems to work just fine, keeps my battery at 100%. Definitely a good option for those that want to move away from batteries alone.

Wanted to get this solar panel for my otherwise battery powered Ring security cameras. Was tired of swapping batteries. Plugged this up into one of them and the Ring app showed immediately that the camera was connected to a solar panel. Watched as the battery power slowly moved up over the next hour. Seems it will keep the battery so well charged I may not have to worry about that camera for a long time. Nicely priced way below the more expensive name brand panel too.
