Product works as described. Easy to see when color turns to indicate lead. Recently purchased “gold-colored “ sewing rings- color changed immediately. Have tested dinnerware also. Would definitely recommend this.

Accurate! And fast. One of my children had a lead positive finger prick test at the pediatrician. Dr said low levels could just be surface transfer from touching an object. We tested the metal on these bows which were handled right before the appointment and found they had lead in them. My other child who tested negative for lead had not touched them. We also tested my husbands work boots and they were positive, which was expected because they do plating at his job.

When these arrived, I immediately discovered some of my older treasures were actually coated in lead paint.; a wooden U.S. military chest we were using as a coffee table, an old metal tractor that had belonged to my husband as a boy, a doll house inherited from a loved relative. My husband also used one to test the paint on a historical building that was having some improvements done. But we also were relieved to discover that some of our older items were not coated in lead paint.We bought these swabs to test items in our house so that we could keep our grandchildren safe when they come to visit. They work very well - the color difference is immediate in the dangerous items, and it's very obvious - leaving no doubt.

I had an inkling that a peeling paint spot in our bathroom was causing some of the strange health symptoms my boyfriend and I have been experiencing and I’ll be damned to find we have lead in our home we JUST moved into! I am just so thankful I trusted my gut and spent the $16 to test my bathroom. I like that it’s super easy to use and you get almost instant results. Having tested with the swab now I know to call my local health department to get someone to come test for real. I’ll update my review if the results from a professional are inaccurate but so far I’m impressed and thankful for this product!!

I couldn’t really tell the color difference so it was hard to see the accuracy, it’s easy to use just kinda difficult to see the difference.

Lead is harmful to your health and this product is a good quick indicator to whether or not lead is present.This product detected lead paint on an old Pyrex bowl with flaking paint, and it was confirmed with a second detection method (fluorescence).I would recommend this product to anyone concerned about lead paint in old homes or in toys, or to families with small children.

If you are looking a lead paint inspection, do not use this item. It is not accurate for lead paint inspection. I wasted my time and money because of this item. I test multiple window and door frame it was negative (orange), when the inspector came and those window and door frame result came positive. Right now, l failed the inspection and need to go course get the certificate and deled those frames. Do not waste your time and money…

It seems to work..my cat s trixie ceramic bowl tested poaitive to lead..her other plates tested negative..my fridge magnets also testet positive..i repeated all test 2 to 3 times and the exact same products tested poaitive to lead every time

These test swabs do not work as they give false positives all the time. After buying them I figured out they not only react with lead but with copper and zink aswell. There are definitely other things they react with. I tried the swab on some leaded solder and it even reacted less than with copper.Do not recommend
