No safe edge. I bought this file specifically because the description specified "safe edge" This indicated to me that one narrow side was smooth. I'm disappointed.

I had a bedroom door that wouldn’t catch on the latch. Using this small 1/2 round file I removed enough from the striker plate in just minutes so the door now securely catches.

These files are good for doing work that is most likely going to damage your good files, I use them for deburring parts I get from a water jet that still have abbrassive impregnated into them.
